  1. For sure... add to that Devers not getting a hit. Not good odds for a victory- but yes.. ain't over till it's over. Go Sox. Alot can happen before 6 more outs.
  2. With you on this! Go Sox!
  3. No it is not. Strike zones are defined by the rules. The umps job is to enforce if a ball is in or out of that zone- not to make up a zone.
  4. With technology- they absolutely are.
  5. Well that was a sad event.
  6. He has been great.
  7. But if we can easily use a piece of technology to get something right- why wouldn't we? What officially is a swing and what is holding up, unfortunatly is subjective. What a strike zone is is not. So if there is an objectively defined zone... and technology allows us to perfectly see it- I just don't in a million years understand the argument against getting the calls right.
  8. Agree.... but why not be consistent with where the actual strike zone is supposed to be? EDIT: Actually I don't agree... the umps don't define the stirke zone. The rules do.
  9. No- let the ump call balls and strikes according to the rules and defined strike zone. The umps should not have their own zone. I mean why not get rid of the chalk lines... let the umps create their own zone of where fair and foul are. Both are objective lines that should be enforced as perfectly as possible.
  10. Just because we can't "see" the lines in real life- doesn't mean they don't exist. The strike zone is defined. While there is not a painted line in thin air.... it is not supposed to be subjective. There is an objective strike zone.. those lines are established and defined. And yes- I want all calls to be perfect- I find no value in incorrect decisions about anything in a ball game. Because the lines are "not visible" does not mean they are invisible- or what do you think the ump is using to determine his calls?
  11. Cluber warming up in the bull pen.... does not fill me with confidence.
  12. I actually enjoy Youk calling the games. Wakefield- not so much.... but that may be because I couldn't stand watching him pitch either.
  13. Yoshi carrying things on his back while Devers trying to figure things out. Outstanding hit there with RISP
  14. I love Tanner's body language and swagger. I hope his game catches up to it. He carries himself with confidence, a "I don't give a $%@ attitude." A very important part of being a good starting pitcher.
  15. Can't complain about Duran's game this year. He obviously put work in and it has paid off.
  16. Is there someone that thought the television graphic was actually there in real life?
  17. Three per team... here is a good explanation and example / video:
  18. I'm not certain on the rules.... but saw it used twice in that game. Both times the call was confirmed / overturned in about 30 seconds.
  19. I traveled to visit my son (Air Force) in California recently. Caught a couple ball-games. One was AAA RiverCats game. I had no idea they could challenge balls and strikes. I loved it. Can't wait for it to make it up to mlb.
  20. Ummm yeah... don't get that. Hopefully he comes up clutch.
  21. Can't help but like Wong's game. Glad he is on the team.
  22. I would never have the calm to be a manager and wait out an inning like that... I"d need a bull pen with 74 arms in it.
  23. Cora must feel very glass half full about our bats for the rest of the game.
