  1. They should totally hire Bill Bellichick.... He's available. Ted Lasso the hell out of that league.
  2. Makes sense- for me; however, mediocre means .500 or above. More importantly it means I can sit down on a hot summer evening, eat some snacks, enjoy a cold drink ... and watch a game feeling like I'm watching a team that has a chance to make plays and win the game. Regardless of the record... I lost that feeling last year, which defeats the purpose of watching the games... For me anyway. I
  3. Tom- liar or dillusional. Your team should pray to be one mediocre. Or did he mean that as a means to not accepting mediocrity they chose sucking instead?
  4. Awesome post
  5. Everytime I hear the front office / ownership saying to describe their plans and strategies.... I always walk away thinking, "You just described minor leagues? That's what your AA, and AAA teams are for, that's where every team is patiently developing and leaning on promising prospects?". Stop pretending it's an either / or scenario and expect me to think you are using some novel strategy. Every team that is trying to put quality, win-now, pro rosters together, have not stopped using their minor league teams to develop players for the future. Anything's can happen, who knows. Plenty of teams have had miracle type runs in spite of poor management.... But ownerships words are simple garbage. Winning is no priority to them at this stage.
  6. This fans about done. I've traveled across the country to watch the Sox, bought tickets, watch 60-70 % of the games on TV, buy tshirts and hats every year.... And my precious time... Worth nothing to others... But priceless to me... A team needs to be fun to watch. I will always like the Red Sox... But will likely re-invest my time actually following a team that's fun to watch- or at the very minimum makes an effort to be fun / good. Without at least one more premium arm we are just a bad team. Pitchers and catchers report in I think less than a month.....hope I'm wrong but doesn't feel they are serious about a quality rotation.
  7. I don't ever do off season posts.... Nor did I want to weed through all the pages for hot stove posts.... Just felt like expressing my frustration. I'm really hoping (but not hopeful) Sox add one or two more quality starters. I feel time is running short and Breslow's moves don't seem to have moved the needle toward higher expectations than another last place finish. Getting tough to follow this team. Three last place finishes in a row and it's clear ownership isn't really trying. Regulate these clubs to AAA like England does with their pro soccer teams!!!! Someone tell me why Im over reacting and tell me our path to a winning team. Honestly, my expectations aren't high. I pay with money and time to support a team... If they are competitive, finish anywhere over .500 - I probably had fun following them. Make a run into the playoffs, icing on the cake to me. And ownership can't keep a fan like me happy???
  8. I always hate to blame coaching at this level... these guys have to know how to play ball.... but the pitching! I just can't understand how they are all this consistently bad and consistently can't go past 4 innings. Some sort of conditioning, coaching, culture... something. Not a great bunch of pitchers overall.... but much better than what we've seen for a while here recently.
  9. Just turned the game on in time to see Duvall doing his thing. Man he has been a fun hitter to watch. Him and Turner are why I watch the games now.
  10. ..... just got significantly less exciting and fun.
  11. Shaping up to be a fun exciting game!
  12. That really really hurts to watch
  13. Do you think Turner, at almost 40 years old and about 5000 at bats in the majors over the last 15 years would get coached by someone by telling him when to swing or not swing?
  14. Just put the game on .... where did our 3 runs come from?
  15. Football season is almost here.
  16. I hope they stay a .500 team and are kinda fun to watch.... this game has a feel of a team starting to give up hope and go through the motions.
  17. I would love to know what the front office's goals were this year? Wonder if they really thought they had a contender? Did they think a .500 team would keep the stands full and that would be good enough? Is this a bridge year for them?
  18. I'm hoping the Sox make enough money to buy Yoshida some pants that fit next year.... poor guy should not have to hike them up so high.
  19. That call has to go to Turner!
  20. Bases loaded... here comes the HR to turn around the year and be the moment we start our run to the playoffs...... or ?????
  21. Really odd year... never could figure out if I liked this team or hated it. I guess I always knew we were a .500 team and hoped we'd catch fire at the right time. Just hasn't happened.
  22. I can't imagine why Turner would want to come back to Boston next year unless they make some MAJOR roster upgrades. He could probably pick where he wants to go on a winning team that will offer him another year or two on his contract.
