  1. I've said this before and I'll say it again. The Red Sox do not need to do anything.
  2. Thank you Ortiz! Would have loved a grand slam though.
  3. Welcome to Talksox! At least this weekend, we'll like you. Hope the Birds bury the Yankees, but hope you guys lose some too down the road.
  4. Lets smack this Erlin guy! Lackey has looked great the past few games.
  5. Going out to dinner to avoid watching this one. Just hoping the Yankees lose, but they happen to be playing the Orioles.
  6. So liking them since the move from Seattle, during their two bad years, plus having ties to the OKC area makes me a bandwagoner?
  7. Let's stop the talk of trading WMB. The way he's hitting, no one wants him. You people give me headaches sometimes. Whenever a player gets into a funk of some kind, whether it be Middlebrooks, Bailey, even Napoli, the first option you guys think of is trading them. That is the stupidest thing ever. That is what Cherington did with Crawford and a little bit with Gonzalez, but he came to his senses. The Sox are fine. There is room for Iggy, Bogaerts, and Middlebrooks to coexist. We're in first place, and Farrell should be AL Manager of the Year. He knows what he's doing. It took Cherington a year, but now he knows what he's doing. Let's stop these nonsense trade rumors because I think we all know that it won't happen. I bet deep down none of you want it to happen either. The Sox aren't desperate at all. This team has depth. Take away Bailey, Uehara's there. Take away Middlebrooks, Iglesias is there. Carp has been great off the bench. Aceves has been great when needed. Everything about this team is working fine. No trades need to be made, and frankly you guys are too closed minded to see that. With you, there's always someone to hate and something to complain about.
  8. I agree with this for the most part, but I actually think that Bristol has more nice parts than bad parts. The area around ESPN is pretty nice (which is basically the whole town's cash source) and a few years ago I played a basketball game at a middle school that was in a pretty nice neighborhood (so probably not Hernandez's school). My interpretation of Bristol is a good one. But then like you said, all CT cities are pretty bad. I would add Middletown and maybe Meriden to the list you have there.
  9. He's really not that slow. He's as athletic as Cody Zeller. He's an interesting talent. Olynyk should be pretty fun to watch, but I'm moving more and more to full Oklahoma City Thunder fan hood now.
  10. I would appreciate a good start by Lester tonight. He needs it, and we need to beat the Jays. Derek Holland already shutout the Yankees and the Orioles could lose, but who knows.
  11. I really do miss all the good stuff.
  12. Shane's doing it all tonight.
  13. What happened to the Lester of April and May?
  14. Seems like the only options. Who was the last Japanese closer in the MLB? I can't think of one.
  15. f*** Bailey. I think Koji could close pretty well...
  16. This is what I like to see coming back from a long day in the sun! Keep it up boys!
  17. Longoria hurts us again...
  18. Thank you sir. Could be earlier if Middlebrooks struggles at the plate again.
  19. I agree. Yesterday's DH and really the whole season have brought some very good signs. Things we haven't done for years have boosted the confidence and morale of Red Sox Nation. Especially with the Yankees playing two, we need to keep winning. I couldn't have worded your post any better.
  20. When I made the thread, I only chose 4 poll options, and then I realized that it wouldn't be enough.
  21. Many possible outcomes on who starts at SS and 3B in 2014. Just wanted to get an idea of what you guys think will happen, especially with Middlebrooks and Drew struggling at the plate but excelling on defense. Assuming Napoli and Ortiz stay where they are, what happens to Middlebrooks? What happens to Drew if Middlebrooks stays and Iggy starts at SS? What happens if Bogaerts gets called up to replace Middlebrooks? I personally think that Drew will not be re-signed, and then when Ortiz retires (maybe after 2014), Napoli (assuming he's still here) plays DH, Middlebrooks to 1B, Bogaerts at 3B, Iggy at SS. That seems like a pretty good option to me.
  22. I don't want him back. Ever.
  23. Agreed. Dempster looked good last time out, but had no run support.
  24. At this point, stay. Not like there are any other options. As long as the Sox stay in first, he's fine. If he has a direct impact on a rough patch, then maybe they think about getting rid of him.
  25. What are you saying? Don't you dare suggest Miggy...
