  1. ^ i agree. i guess i didn't make my point well. i meant that a team with a dmoinant pitching staff that can put up some runs will be far better than a team with so-so pitching and and above average hitters. i do agree that we can take the phillies, but you have to think, we lost home field advantage due to that s***** all-star game. ( worst idea in sports). papi might have to sit a few games. i do think going into the playoffs with our starting 3 and a dominant bullpen will give us the advantage over any team. our guys are going to give us the lead mostly every game, our starters just have to protect it....
  2. king felix and lackey...... my stomache is already in knots thinking about what could possibly happen.... or maybe this is just what lackey needs to snap back into it.... get a win and regain some swagger....
  3. ^i meant respect more for NOT signing him as an agent......
  4. Boras is a douche for grabbing teams by the balls and squeezing every last cent out of them. honestly, i respect players a little more for signing him as an agent. al it does is turn their eyes into dollar signs. $$$$$$ if you're a great player, you deserve to get paid great. i get that, but boras' clients are always expecting to set the bar as far as being the highest paid at their position. in any sport. what's wrong with taking 5 million less and staying on a team you llove to play for when you're already a frickin MILLIONAIRE! ( that wasn't a jab at jason bay......)
  5. pitching definitely wins championships, if said team can make the playofs. once october hits, it changes pitchers. they're more dialed in, more intense, more focused. offense goes through a cycle of 9 hittes, but pitchers.... it's just them and the batters. all you need in the playoffs is a solid 3 SP. that's it. no pitcher is going to bitch about having to start on 3 days rest if it's game 6 of the ALCS! if your pitchers can do their jobs and leave it to your offense to put up only a few runs, you'll win championships.....
  6. being a yankee fan might be the equivalent of somebody liking the Glazer organization over in the UK....
  7. ahahahahahahahahah!!!! great way to start the morning!!!
  8. i would be happy with either, but i'd go with pedey. not just because i'm a sox fan, but it's the intangibles. the same things people say about varitek. the intensity, the heart, the leadership. you can't put those numbers on stats! don't get me wrong, i think Cano has one of teh prettiest swings that i have seen in years, but Pedroia gets the nod. i hope that little f***er never leaves the SOX!
  9. hmmm... i have to agree with you here. if beltran winds up with the pirates, we might see reddick ni a sox uniform after the deadline. i wuold hate to see him go, because i do think with a little more time he can be an everyday RF, but i think the FO has switched their brains to " MUST WIN NOW". i personally don't think we need to go for s SP. once lester gets back, and hopefully clay comes back well, all we need to focus on is october. our 3 will be Lester, Clay, and Josh. and in the bullpen Aceves, Miller, wake, etc?! RF is definitely our top priority, but i think we could still have a decent year if Reddick gets some more time in. I'm all over the place. i just can't wait to see what happens!
  10. i agree. maybe 15 and liking the beatles, but to have a 15 year old now-a-days that like the boss..... i don't believe it.....
  11. going to the game tomorrow. kinda scared with Lackey on the mound. i've seen shields pitch a ton of times. FYI.... tampa fans are *******s. bandwagon *******s. they have this "party deck" in upper left field, that's where all the drunks go. cheap seats, but unknowledgable fans up there. they're the noes who say," blah, blah million dollar payroll..... blah blah you live in tampa now. you should root for the home team." i try explaining to them that if they actually WENT to more games, then their team would have money and they could afford better players. nothing against the rays, they're a great team, but the fans are awful! sorry for the rant, i'm just trying to psyche myself up for what's coming tomorrow when i hoist the SOX flag in the parking lot!
  12. i think it's cool that the sox have showed some respect for jeter. he's a classy guy. but at the same time, i kind of miss the animosity towards the yankees that the players once had. pretty much before 04. i used to watch the sox/yanks games on the edge of my seat just waiting for something to blow up and start an argument. now jeter pats youk on the back at third? i get it, but i still like the classic sox/yanks brawls!
  13. Crawford hasn't earned a spot higher than 6. period. we get a lot out of our 1-5 batters, why change it? if crawford does start heating up, it'll just be better for the backend of our lineup. i wish Crawford would come back during the Rays series. I'm going to the games all weekend and would have liked to see him go better than he did last time. ( 1 for 12 i think?)
  14. born in 83..... parents grew up in Chelsea.... there were no other teams than the sox and celtics..... otherwise i would have been caned and gone to bed without supper....
  15. sometimes i want to strangle tito! when is he just gonna give reddick a bigger role? i at least want him to have a press conference and justify what the hell he is doing not starting him over DMac more consistantly....
  16. that's awful. imagine the guilt that josh feels. not saying that it was his fault at all, but he might feel that if he never threw the ball to him then it never would have happened. i can only imagine what is going on in his mind. you always hear horror stories of the "what ifs" in sports and you never expect it to happen to you. when i go to a ball game and sit in the lower levels, i see people who aren't even paying attention to the game. that ball comes off teh bat pretty damn fast sometimes! people go to games to escape and to feel some joy. it's awful when something like this happens. my thoughts are with the family.
  17. he's our only silver lining in the sandstorm that has been our pitching this year. (meaning lackey and our injuries.) i had a buddy of mine that is a marlins fan dog us for getting miller because he sucked for them. i think he's been pretty damn good so far...
  18. i'm happy with Pap as a closer, i'm just not as confident in him as i once was. he definitely can make a ninth inning, 2-run game interesting....
  19. maybe they'll have some motivation knowing that they just shipped mike cameron off to the fish!!
  20. trade one bum for another..... why bother?
  21. i think given a couple more opportunities that reddick will have proven himself to be the everyday RF. we don't need to go out nd spend money on some average RF'er. reddick has been a beast, he's young, and we can prob spend next to nothing to keep him. i guarantee we make no moves before the trade deadline.
  22. wasn't that about 6 years ago against the yankees on sunday night?
