I think it's ironic that even Red Sox fans fuss about the payroll. I thought that stuff was left for only Royals and Pirates fans. With all the money being spent on Craford and Gonzo...how are they doing so far? Are they earning it in your opinion?
As profitable as the Red Sox have been, why sell? Don't owners typically sell when the franchise is down and out? Phoenix Coyotes, New Orleans Hornets.
Call me jealous that the Northeast has trains that you can ride between all of the cities. Did anyone catch the train down to Philly for the Inter League matchup? I thought of this when I saw how many Red Sox fans there were at the game today. I would be at nearly every matchup against the Yankees in New York if I could ride the train.
They were just talking on tv about how big of a mystery he has been. And then he hit his 8th bomb of the season. He's 31 years old, peaking a little late but better late than never.

I would be lying to myself if I said most Red Sox fans know he won't last either. I am a skeptic, myself.
I agree. Too many franchises are opting for more club boxes and luxury seating; that way the city can pick up the bill on the new stadium and the owners can pad their pockets. Good to finally see a franchise listening to the fans.
In the American League? Joey Bats. Has he not led the entire league the last two seasons? 30+ home runs at the All Star Break in 2011. Give me a break.
No matter how great or how terrible the ball club is in any given year, Red Sox fans are still going to be Red Sox fans. Even during the 100 win seasons, you still have those complaining about the lineup so and so need to be in AAA. I guess you could say the grass is always greener. As far as a sense of entitlement, they have been selling out the ballpark for how many consecutive years? Big attendance = big spending on big time players.
Francona is gone and so is Epstein. Fresh start. I will admit, he looks miserable in that broadcasting booth. You can tell he wants to be back out there managing again.
Just get a few classic jerseys like a Mo Vaughn or a Ted Williams. You will only be able rock the Youkilis and Pedroia for so long. Don't worry about the authentics although the cool base jerseys feel great on those hot day games.
Just buy a few classic jerseys. Maybe a Clemens, Boggs, Ted Williams, Mo Vaughn. That way you don't have to keep updating all of the time. I spent $100 on a Joey Votto jersey that I wear 15 days a year, wasn't worth it even though I love the Reds.
I have no problem with a pitcher sipping on beer on his off day. But this is just to get the media to shut up. The clubhouse is a place to hang out, and although other teams say they've banned alcohol, it's just to pat the media and fans on the head. We all know everyone is going to keep drinking.
I'm trying to assemble a list for my website of where the Red Sox stay in other cities. Would anyone be able to help me out? Even two or three cities would be a great start.
These threads wouldn't exist if the Sox had made a semi-decent playoff run. The grass is always greener. Someone should go check out the A's and Royals message boards and see what they're talking about.
No need in announcing just yet. For all 30 teams, a lot will be settled after the winter meetings in Las vegas next month. Would love to see Maddon come to Boston. What about Beachy?
What is he going to DH for the Yankees? They have no room for him. They're going to focus their payroll on pitching this season. Cashman has already been in contact with Buerhle, Cj Wilson, Edwin Jackson, Roy Oswalt and Wandy Rodriguez.
Papelbon is the most vital to re-sign. Good closers are hard to find. Red sox fans should be more concerned with how competent the new gm is and what his style is. Does he know how to spend the money because even having a lot of it does not guarantee success (Cubs).
Don't want to seem like a spammer, but my website has a directory of ticket companies and brokers. I list their coupon codes for you on my website. Just trying to save you some money.

Red Sox tickets are going to be the same price as last season the club just announced. Francona, Epstein and possibly Ortiz gone, I see the demand going down. That's just my opinion- especially if the team is slow out of the gates like they were at the beginning of 2011.
Hope you make it to fenway next year!
I loathe bandwagoners as well. Red Sox fans they stay loyal, even in their down years. The Rays deserved it though, they are doing something right down there. How many millions did they trim their payroll by this season?
No way Crawford is a free agent bust, however, no way he deserved the money he got. Give him a little more time to mesh with this team. What sucks for him is that Tampa snagged the Wildcard.
Goes to show you how competitive the AL East is. Best division in baseball by far. They are really doing something right in Tampa though, Imagine what they could do with a new stadium that actually sits in Tampa.
While the Red Sox do need an ace, Ellsbury has been on fire this year. He is def going to request a lot in arbitration. Just afraid of doing the reverse of a Wily Mo/Bronson trade all over again.
