  1. Despite the fact that much of the team is starting uncharacteristically slow, there are plenty of people doing well for themselves. Jebediah is tearing the cover off the ball, Papi is hitting, A-Gon has had some key hits, Beckett just had one of his best starts period, and Lester has bid farewell to his april alterego of suck. The bullpen has looked mostly solid too; Pap was lights-out in his save spots, Bard has looked good of late, Aceves looks good, and Jenks has yet to give up a run. As has been stated before, these guys are just too good for the status quo to continue. I dont know if it's been the case all year, but from being there in person tuesday it seemed like we were having horrendous luck in terms of well-hit balls right at people while the Rays banged out seeing-eye single after seeing-eye single. A few inches here and there and we're talking about a different outcome. While the end result is frustrating, that kind of thing can only go on for so long.
  2. I obviously don't know what the field looked like, but I was out wandering near Fenway at 7ish last night and conditions were definitely playable. Sounds like it was a mental health day more than anything else. Hopefully the breather will help us refocus. In other encouraging news, Lowrie was supposedly penciled into shortstop last night for Scutaro. Can we make more of a habit of that plz? And let us not forget, baseball is FUN GODDAMMIT!
  3. I thought it seemed odd to call it this early, especially since the rain looks to be easing up this evening.

  5. Sad that that's what it's come to, but yeah. I hoped they would get it in for selfish reasons, but an extra day off probably isn't the worst thing in the world at this point.
  6. Since the first 11 games of the season are a true measure of a new signing's worth, you're absolutely right! What the bloody f*** was Theo thinking?!
  7. Per Gordon Edes, the game has been postponed
  8. got some infield grandstands. Section 16 I think. You?
  9. We're getting this s*** in. Book it. (I'm glad I have covered seats though)
  10. I've got tix to this one too. I suppose this would be a good time to add that the Sox haven't won in something like my last dozen trips to fenway. I could use an anti-rain dance as well.
  11. If there's one thing this season has taught me thus far, it's not to get ahead of ourselves
  12. 2 in a row? I must have REALLY not paid attention last night.
  13. o hai neighbor!
  14. I'll be back for more tonight. Johnny issued a dramatic "f*** you, April Lester" in his last start and is ready to kick some ass. Maybe Price will even give up a run or two to help the cause. Win this s*** so I can hear Dirty Water and Tito sounding off about "a lot of good things" happening tonight. It appears that the rain will taper off around game time: http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/USMA0046?begHour=9&begDay=102 (since boston forecasts in april are ever so reliable)
  15. That deal makes me extend.
  16. because it had to be done... Given our New England sports fan pessimistic nature, it's easy to want to jump off the nearest bridge under the circumstances. It's a bit of a new look team that has not yet found it's cohesion and a bunch of guys are off to uncharacteristically slow starts. But I think we all know that they're much better than the numbers suggest and can soon expect a return to the norm. These guys started as the overwhelming world series favorites for a reason and any talk of 'defections' after 8 games is ridiculous. They are going to click and when they do, it's gonna be fun as hell to watch.
  17. I could get used to this whole timely hitting thing. Moar plz?
  18. Once they got rid of Willy Mays Hayes it all went to hell in a handbasket. http://www.sportsfan4.com/media/willie-mays-hayes.jpg
  19. Pedro hands-down. In terms of power, intelligence, pitch selection and sheer mound presence, it's not close. When he was 'on', nobody could touch him. We knew it, he knew it, and the opposing hitters knew it. Apart from the All-Star game, I think my fondest Pedro memory was the 8/29/2000 street fight against Tampa. He hit Gerald Williams to lead it off and the proceeded to throw perfect baseball into the 9th, while Tampa was preoccupied with trying to throw at our hitters. It was the most emphatic "f*** you" performance I've ever seen and showed his ability to lock himself in in a situation that would've rattled most people. His post-game sound bytes were priceless too.
  20. Anything is possible with these two teams. Though I do predict that the Sox will have a random awakening at some point this weekend in the form of a frustration-induced rout of the Yankees, and then proceed to reel off about 8 wins in a row. My guess was 17-2
  21. Thanks guys. For a little background, I grew up in RI and just moved out to Wyoming last summer (to spread the influence of Red Sox Nation to the boonies obviously). I'll be back east next week however, and catching all the games against Tampa. While it's nice of them to wait for me and all, I wouldn't mind a win before then.
  22. Apart from being a Jew in an Irish-Catholic cesspool, I have no reason to fear for him. The season is young, he's a gamer, and our sample size is quite small. I'll get back to you next month.
  23. I'm bitter and disgruntled and constipated and figured some red sox forum catharsis was a better alternative to sacrificing a small animal. Wins are overrated anyway. How's it goin everybody?
