  1. If given the opportunity, I hope someone from the red sox steals third while moonwalking the last 10 feet into the bag.
  2. So for those keeping score: Red Sox hit batsmen - 3 ( + 2 others that were close) Tampa ejections - 0 Tampa hit batsmen - 0 Red Sox ejections - 4 I imagine anyone who missed the game and then checked the box score was very confused! Absolute horseshit performance by the umps. This game was out of control after the first inning. After having pinpoint control all season, hitting just 2 batsmen before tonight and giving up barely any walks - Price was practically begging to get ejected (meanwhile Farrell gets tossed before he can make it halfway to the mound). I've hated the Rays worse than I've hated the Yankees for a long time and this game was a reaffirmation of that. They're a dirty, gutless bunch with a perennial 'little brother' complex: the constant need to show how 'tough' they are, then whining about the injustice of it all when other teams react and then getting handily beaten when it counts. Thank god we won this game is all I can say. In general I think the whole idea of hitting/throwing at people to prove a point is kind of stupid, but Workman shot way up on my list after the pitch to Longoria (I do believe it was intentional). At some point there just has to be a response, especially when the other team is essentially being permitted to go wild on you. It didn't so much bother me that he was ejected for that, but it just reaffirmed how ridiculous it was that Price got to remain in the game after all that happened. It's also a bit of a stretch to suggest that the Red Sox 'had it coming' after last weekend. Escobar's steal of 3rd was certainly questionable, but the bigger issue was his subsequent mouthing off and challenging the whole dugout to a fight. If anything, I thought we still owed them one going into the game. Who knows if this is the last of the fireworks this weekend, but let's not miss Longoria next time. And kudos to Farrell and Papi for not holding back in the post-game comments.
  3. In fairness to Alfredo, a Davis home run is mostly a foregone conclusion at this point. There's something to be said for the entertainment value of Alfredo inevitably going crazy and nailing him before the night is over.
  4. Man, Jim Joyce's strike calls sound like a constipated guy on the toilet.
  5. Not a bad decision. The season's more or less lost, so why risk further damage in a series of throwaway games? By doing it this early, he'll have a chance to recover from the surgery and whatever inevitable setback injuries pop up in time to play a bigger chunk of season than he did this year!
  6. Good move. Now trade Salty and bring up Lavs so we can have a Yale battery....if nothing else, we'll outsmart the bastards!
  7. Apparently it's Hazmat Suit night!
  8. So we've got former ESPN analyst/current Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine in the house of former Red Sox GM/current Cubs President Theo Epstein, featuring commentary from former Red Sox manager/current ESPN analyst Terry Francona. This would only be better if Schilling and Nomar were the co-anchors.
  9. That Reyes character is a real pain in the ass.
  10. Ok, the Mirabelli thing made me lol
  11. Come on now. It doesn't exactly take a silver slugger to be able to pound the s*** out of the likes of Bruce Chen.
  12. Tragic. Carl had my dream job. No matter how messed up the season was, his 'GOOD EVENING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS, AND WELCOME TO FENWAY PARK!' was always uplifting. And now with the whole 'dying in 3s' thing, I'm worried about the other red sox folks (i.e. Pesky) on the brink.
  13. A strike away from vanquishing the most ridiculous week of baseball ever and you bitches are arguing about payroll. Brilliant!
  14. DONT DO THAT TO ME DON YOU RIDICULOUS MOFO!!!!
  15. HEEEEEEEEEERE'S BOBBY! http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb162/pknight212/bobby.jpg
  16. ROSS YOU MAGNIFICENT BASTARD!
  17. Well the Bruins shut down the Caps in game 6, so I see no reason why we can't shut down the Capps here (heeheehee)
  18. Well this could go a couple ways now......they lose another heartbreaker late at the hands of the bullpen and deflate even further, or they pull out a good win, feel warm and fuzzy, and gain some momentum. What's it gonna be? GOGOGO!!!
  19. Nice bounce back for Johnny. Now I believe the time has come..... http://stuffershack.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/bard1.jpg
  20. Youk's inability to stay healthy Ellsbury's prolonged absence after being last year's best position player. Robert Valentine's filter The bullpen's allergy to outs.
  21. Agreed. I don't see how Cook could be much worse than what we've been throwing out there thus far. There's still a sizable gap between 'not excelling' and coughing up a 9 run lead. If he can come up here and be serviceable - eat some innings, get some outs, not give up gratuitous grand slams to the yankees - then he's done his job.
  22. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120422&content_id=29409332&vkey=news_bos&c_id=bos Looks like Bard will be available out of the bullpen for just today's game, so there's that. Our resident AAAA first baseman/outfielder/zombie Lars Anderson is back up as well. Offensive road numbers aside, I think what this team needs most is a change of scenery right now. I still want to firebomb the whole damn bullpen, and I'm a well-balanced and reasonable-minded fan. I shudder to think what a typical fan would do. A few days on the road with a chance to rebound and take away some of the sting from last weekend will do them well.
