  1. Our only card for a manager? Are you kidding me? Boy, you have to build a team first, managers bring very litte to the table, I would say 5%. Build a great team first and then find a manager. Remember last offseason and the BV comedy? They spent tons of time searching a manager and in the meantime other teams ate our lunch.
  2. damn! how did we become this bad?
  3. Somehow we have to get rid of Lackey.
  4. Well, Aces must have durability (no fragile/injures, 200 IP) and consistency (ERA around 3, WHIP under 1) mixed with outstanding/high-level performance (Wins/QS) season after season. Examples? Felix, Verlander, Halladay, Cain, Kershaw, Lee, etc.
  5. The point is not Felix. Sure, Felix would be a good addition, and as I said I'd make the deal for those players, (I agree, I do not see the M's trading King Felix). I'm just saying that we need a true ace (clearly, we do not have one --Buch is not) and a solid # 2 (Buehrle type) just to start. Then you need a 1st baseman, a C (Unless you want to go with Salty) and an OF. You need as well, a DH. Furthermore.. you need a real FO. This team will need a lot of work this offseason. A lot.
  6. then... if big names are not the answer, how will you compete in the AL East next year? with rookies in the rotation? with Buch and Lester as #1 and #2 and Lackey as number 3? or simply wait to 2014 or 2015? Let's face it, unfortunately this is about money. We are not KC or the A's. Big guys cost tons of money. That won't change. Thing is how to address that money with the proper players and then how to manage those guys properly . Clearly our FO has not made a good job here.
  7. I'm not sure what the Mariners would ask for Felix, but if Felix meant those guys, I'd make the deal. Felix deserves that amount of "talent", I wouldn't ask less (probably more) If I were the Mariners (Still, I'm not sure if this is enough for the Mariners or if other team could make a better offer) I understand your concern about the future, but this team needs to win next year, We just can't spend another October in our couches and be the joke for everyone. No way. The Boston Red Sox do not have that privilege. A 5th year in a row and no win a single PO game? No. Sure, we have to address other positions as well, but for God's sake, start with our rotation.
  8. Well, he has showed flashes that can perform as an ace but he hasn't showed durability and consistency like Verlander, Felix, Hammels, etc. He simply is not in that level yet. As I said, do whatever it takes to land an ace and a solid #2 and build the pitching staff around them.
  9. As backup role, yes... I wouldn't start him in 2013.
  10. He needs to show consistency and durability, say a couple of years in a row, till then, we need a #1 and a #2, otherwise we will be a mediocre team again. I would't gamble another season with Buch and Lester as #1 and #2 regardless the #3-#5 would be a whole mystery... again.
  11. Well, then I guess this guy didn't worth 100 MUSD.
  12. I couldn't win a single series against User? this year hahaha... congrats to both finalists. Was pretty fun guys...
  13. Another L? Well, no surprise here. I wonder wether we are going to win a game again this season.
  14. oks... Lav and Ciriaco can stay... everyone else included Ortiz, Ells and Iglesias have to go/trade or whatever. BP? Who do you want to keep?, Bailey?, Miller?, Hill? mmmm IDK man, 2 of them are prone to injuries...so, who else? Melancon? Aceves? Padilla? Bard?... who? Tazawa?... This team needs to be rebuilt in each department. Clean the house!
  15. In few words, everybody no named Peddy, Buch, WB or Ross have to go...
  16. Excellent retrospective Ted. How are you my friend? I've been little busy but the good thing about this, is that my activities have not allowed me to watch this horrible/forgettable season. You and I said that this team had little room for mistakes since how this team was built if underperformance/injuries show up. They showed up, no surprise here. Nevertheless, the impact/consequences were out proportion to the point that this team, as you said, is one of the worst teams in the majors not only in numbers but to watch. Isn't fun anymore. We went from to be a mediocre team to be a joke/blank check team. The lack of management in this team has been horrible in every possible way and has been my main concern the last 4 years. Somehow some people defended the FO despite the sings were there. It's time to sell the team or clean up the house, and when I say clean up the house , I mean LL, BC, BV and the coaching & medical staff have to go. Maybe in 2013, the rebuilding mode will continue... we'll see.
  17. As I said and I'll keep saying, Aceves is a very good mid/eating-reliever. They made him closer. We all know the results. All these horrible moves take us to the point where I do not see Aceves in Boston uniform next year. All these experiments sucked to the point we lost key pieces in already proved roles. (Bard as setup guy, Aceves as Mid-reliever, etc.). Magnificent Cherington, Magnificent!
  18. Only Lester and Buch should be in our rotation next year as #3 and #4 respectively. Unfortunately Lackey will be your #5. Use Morales and Felix as depth. You still need a solid #1 and #2 and a BP to build. Again (#23293029302), if we do not build a solid rotation with at least one true ace (#1) and another very good SP (#2), this team will fail for 5th year in a row.
  19. Again... start looking a real GM.
  20. Do you think the owners are looking to sell?? Yes.
  21. JH era is done. It's clear that the operations and the management in general of this team the last 4 years have not been good to the point to take these recent measures. If i were JH I would sale right away!
  22. ready to what I wonder...hahaha whata joke.
  23. Everything is said.
  24. BTW....Bring Friedman, no matter at what price and start over, and please... let him take all the decisions.
