Mike Axisa said today in his weekly chat that he thinks the Sox will land Cliff Lee. He says they'll probably trade Webster + Cecchini + another prospect which I assume means a lower leveler. I can't imagine them trading Webster though. I would have to think that, perhaps if Ranaudo keeps dominating, they trade him instead if Webby.Then again, Webster has fallen off quite a bit in terms of command. What are your thoughts? If they do make that deal, you gotta think they would be in great shape to take the AL East and make a deep deep run. That top 3 would be as good as any in baseball, and Lackey is no bum in the 4 slot. I also think once De La Rosa hits around 75 innings he comes up and takes Mortensons slot in the pen.

Yankees wRC+ is 89. Adding wrist injured Tex and declining Youkilis isn't going to make this team a league average wOBA team. Not even close. They'll push to a 92-94 wRC+, but that's about it. Did you forget that you still have Gardner (102 wRC+), Wells (100 wRC+), Ichiro (61 wRC+), Brignac (-84 wRC+), Stewart (75 wRC+)/Romine (-35 wRC+) starting for you?? And did you forget your pitching staff has not been very good at all? No starter has an xFIP under 3.70. Kuroda has been good but he's living off a .244 BABIP and his ERA (2.39) is outrageously under his xFIP (3.93). That said, I'm very much looking forward to Buch vs Kuroda on Sunday. That should be an awesome game. Oh and as a side note, I know the Yanks have struggled vs LHP, and that's where Tex and Youk will help, but they have been really bad vs RHP (.733 OPS). Adding Tex and Youk does not help them vs RHP at all, which represents ~60-65% of their games.

Overbay has a .774 OPS in May. To say you're going to get some kind of a game-changing upgrade from Mark Teixeira (.807 OPS last year, and now coming off a wrist injury) is as asinine as it gets. You play this off as though suddenly you're getting Miguel Cabrera after having Pokey Reese play first base. As for third base, first off, Youkilis is not even close to an everyday player anymore. Just look at what happened when you tried to play him there everyday for two weeks. He is as injury prone a player as there is in baseball. And when he's healthy, he's a .750-.770 OPS guy. He's not a game changer.

JBJ was called up specifically to man LF in NYY. Victorino is scheduled to come off the DL on the 5th. Not sure if by 'this series' you meant Philly or NYY, but he won't be back until the 5th.

Basically, every Thursday one of my HS friends posts a throwback Thursday photo of themselves with Taylor Swift when she was in HS with them. I graduated the year before she got there, but I have some connections. So, in the song Teardrops on My Guitar, she talks about a guy named Drew that would talk to Taylor about this girl he liked a lot. But, that girl was dating someone else at the time so he couldn't date her. That someone? Yours truly. True story. I should get royalties!

I'm so happy that we brought up Bradley right in the middle of an incredible hot streak when he was playing perhaps the best he's played as a professional, and we sit him for two days. Awesome. Really. Awesome.

If nothing else, Juan Francisco would provide some depth in easily the thinnest position in the Sox system. They would be smart to make a move and acquire him. He could well benefit from the Monster in LF.

Drew was just rounding third when Brown dove for the ball. I don't think Gomes could have made it from 2nd to home by the time Brown got up and got the ball and threw it in. I agree, it was a bit deceptive. When I saw the ball bounce away, I thought Gomes had a shot. But then the replay from behind Brown made it look like there wasn't much of a chance.
