  1. The Phillies are asking for guys like Bradley, Cecchini, and Barnes. The Dodgers can't sniff that package.
  2. How is this a rash decision??? You're trading for a guy who's been a consistent high 2's, low 3's ERA and FIP guy.
  3. Appears some of the regular national baseball writers starting to catch up with Rich Smith - Joel Sherman tweeting "Joel Sherman ‏@Joelsherman1 2m On Lee, sense is #Redsox really focus. Bos has to decide whether to take on $70M plus give up 3 big prospects" as well as "Joel Sherman ‏@Joelsherman1 1m Have been told #Redsox definitely have enough hi-end prospects to do Lee without Bogaerts #Phillies"
  4. UPDATE: Cliff Lee has agreed to waive no trade clause if deal with Red Sox can be met.
  5. Well he's been extremely fast on the Phillies stuff, but also has had a lot of insight on other items (first to report Bud Norris scratched on my twitter feed), and reporting it's likely a deal with the Pirates, which he's the only one reporting that. I am very hesitant to believe much of what he says because he's not really well known, but everything he's tweeting appears legit.
  6. I would hesitantly trade JBJ if it was a deal breaker. The Phillies have called up their 3B prospect, indicating Young has been dealt. Combine that with the fact that the Phillies have asked if Lee would waive his NTC to the Sox, and this may be happening.
  7. Rich Smith @ALLsportsINTEL MLB - Phillies Source - Phillies have asked Cliff Lee if he would waive his no trade clause if a deal could be reached with Red Sox.
  8. This is silly. Having Lee - Buch - Lester as your 1-2-3 would give you a huge potential to make a WS run.
  9. The Phillies have called up a 3B prospect, pointing to the liklihood that Michael Young has been traded (or will be in the next couple hours). Makes me think the Red Sox and Phillies have a deal for Young and Lee. But, that's just me reading the tea leaves.
  10. Even I wouldn't give up Bogaerts for Lee.
  11. I think Cafardo may be wrong here. I've heard a lot of reports of Cecchini, Bradley, and Barnes. The hold up in the deal is the money, where the Sox want the Phillies to eat 1/2 of Lee's remaining salary, and they're currently negotiating. https://twitter.com/ALLsportsINTEL Based on the tweets I've read, this guy seems pretty plugged in.
  12. I never saw that, so I apologize. It appeared as though you were asking that after my hypothetical question.
  13. *sigh* I feel like people on here don't read. I said hypothetical. As in, there is no evidence of any of this. It's just hypothetical.
  14. Extremely hypothetical question. If you're Cherrington and you have two trade options, which would you pull the trigger on? A: Bogaerts, Webster, Barnes, and Betts for Giancarlo Stanton B: Cecchini, Barnes, Betts for Cliff Lee.
  15. I guess right now it'd have to be the Rays. We very well could have taken 3/4 against the Tigers but for a blown save by Bailey and a blown call on Nava's catch in RF. And those games were at DET. Right now, Price and Moore look insanely tough, although Moore blew up last time out against the Yankees. Regardless, if the Sox get a top of the rotation starter (which it is looking more and more like they will), I think they can match up with any team in terms of pitching, particularly with Lester pitching the way he is. For example, if we get my boy Lee, a playoff rotation of Lee - Buchholz - Lester would be an outrageous rotation to face, especially in a short series. Add in Lackey in the 4 slot in a 7 game series, that's tough to beat right there.
  16. So I'm not allowed to update with new info from MLBTR?
  17. From MLBTR - An NL executive that has recently spoken with Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. told Andy Martino of the New York Daily News that he thinks Lee will be dealt (Twitter link). That executive chose Boston as the likely destination. Martino is careful to note that it's "informed speculation" on the executive's behalf, as opposed to something that Amaro came out and said directly. Please oh please oh please oh please!!
  18. No, it may cost Cecchini, who is actually a better prospect at this point than Bradley according to some scouts, but the Sox will deal from areas of depth, not shallow positions like CF.
  19. Hearing its the A's or the Braves. I am pretty surprised that the Sox have now lost out on both Peavy and Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez. But that's probably only because they're going to land Lee.
  20. I can certainly see Cecchini being our 2nd best hitting prospect, but he doesn't sniff Bogaert's jock
  21. The +1 would almost certainly be a Rule 5 guy (Almanzar?)
  22. Keith Law had Cecchini and Bradley at 20 and 25 on his midseason ranking. So according to him, Cecchini has surpassed Bradley.
  23. Right, because Cecchini, who was a top 25 prospect in a few prospect rankings, isn't a top 5 Sox prospect.....
  24. I think the Sox could offer Cecchini, Ranaudo, and a Mookie Betts type player and that would definitely get the ball rolling.
  25. I have no idea how you can say this when he was previously saying it was an absolute no. Now he's saying he's listening
