  1. GT is for short term, emotional responses. If you want long term, big picture, look at non game threads.
  2. Yes. Nobody is allowed to be emotional or upset about losing to a .333 W% team. Lets all hold hands and look at the rainbows.
  3. What an absolute embarrassment. Losing to the freaking Astros?? Wow. That's as low as it gets. I never liked Farrell giving Wright a start here. When you're in this tight of a pennant race, you take your off days when you have off days. You don't manufacture off days for your pitchers. If Wright loses today and then we have Dempster vs Cosart tomorrow, we could well get swept by the Astros. How disgusting.
  4. 15. In the past 2 games. Let that sink in.
  5. Maybe Napoli will break the LOB record for 3 consecutive games. He's gotta be damn close.
  6. Is this game serious right now??
  7. Anyone else watching the PawSox game on NESN? Nice grab there by Bogaerts. Thought that was going to fall for sure.
  8. wRC+ is just the OPS+ of wOBA, just to let you know.
  9. I'm sorry, this is one of the most absolutely silly things I've ever heard in terms of any kind of baseball analysis.
  10. So, when the AL league average SS has a .659 OPS, and the AL league average 1B has a .775 OPS, you're saying regardless of position, an .800 OPS provides the same value, regardless of whether a player is a SS or a 1B?? Come on. You cannot possibly be serious.
  11. I'm not defending it, I'm just saying he's got plenty of reason to bring in the guy. Not to mention you're going on the road in a 3 game set against the worst team in the MLB (Astros have an 85 wRC+). So, there's a pretty good chance that there won't be a save opportunity over the next 3 days. Go ahead and notch the W today. Plus RDLR walks quite a few hitters. He's better suited for a 7th inning stint to get his feet wet, where the team has some time to react if needed.
  12. So you think Ellsbury's RBI knock that Parra lost in the sun today was legit?
  13. Well you could argue the exact same thing regarding the entire premise of OPS, since hits are both subjective (to scorers discretion) and randomly distributed (see BABIP).
  14. You're a league average hitter with an .800 OPS at 1B. You're an elite hitter if you have a .800 OPS as a C. To say that positional value doesn't matter is just silly.
  15. Adrian Gonzalez's OPS at home is .805, and wRC+ is 131. Away, .832, wRC+ is 127. I know it's not perfect, but it certainly provides a pretty significant compensation considering a 3% dip in OPS in home games but a 3% bump in wRC+ at home.
  16. Napoli wRC+ right now: 116. AL League Average wRC+: 113. He's right at average, but his career wRC+ is 127, so he's come in well below expectations.
  17. Saying that the fact he plays in LA is meaningless when a stat is park adjusted.
  18. wRC+ is park adjusted.
  19. Has anyone here argued that Napoli is a good 1B?? Or anything more than average at best?
  20. Workman was already going to be coming up for the road trip because Nava is going on paternity leave, so if Workman replaces him, the 10 day requirement goes away. And I 100% agree. Bring in RDLR. Particularly if we score 1-2 more runs this inning.
  21. Holy crap. These bases loaded complete fails are infuriating!
  22. I'll be surprised if Ortiz sees another high leverage strike with 1B open this season.
  23. That was disgusting execution. Napoli just absolutely sucked hard.
