  1. Yeah!!!!!!!!!! Screw your reverse splits, Ryu!!!!!
  2. I'm shocked. A middle infielder attempted a ridiculous play and it didn't come to fruition against us
  3. Farrell is off his rocker at this point. The game is speeding up on him. He's never managed in a pennant chase and it looks like he's trying to get out of one as quick as he can.
  4. I was pumped about this game because I was thinking "Man, we're going to have an awesome lineup vs LHP, with Bogaerts, Napoli, Gomes, Middlebrooks, Ross in, that leaves 1 lefty in Ellsbury. This team will smack around LHP". Half the reason I wanted to watch this game was to see Bogaerts. Now it's just going to be muted and on in the background while I study for the damn CPA exam. This is ********.
  5. Drew in, not Bogaerts today. Which is great because the lineup we had last night did so well. Eat s*** Farrell. You're managing this team into the ground in the 2nd half. Drew has a freaking sub .600 OPS vs LHP and you've got a guy who OPS'd over 1.000 vs LHP in AAA.
  6. Not sure how we let Nolasco own us so badly last night. I am getting really tired of hearing "Oh this guy has great stuff" and "that's the best right hander we've seen this year". Just shut up about it already and hit the damn baseball. Over the past 6 games, the Red Sox have a 2.73 ERA, and they're 3-3. That's disgusting. I don't understand how an offense that leads the league in runs can get shut out 10 times already this year. This team is insanely vulnerable to anyone who throws strikes. They can grind out pitchers who nibble and who have trouble around the strike zone and really hit them, but if a pitcher can throw strikes, goodnight. Hopefully Ryu is off tonight because he's a strike thrower too.
  7. Saturday games are blacked out everywhere.
  8. Yup. Rehab game on Sunday, followed by another rehab game (likely 8/30). Depending on how that goes and whether the PawSox have any games left (i.e. if they make the playoffs), either 1 more rehab game or back to the Sox. If he comes back to the Sox, he'll likely start on 9/4 or 9/5 against Detroit, then against TB and NYY. If he takes the extra rehab start, he'll probably be back around 9/10 @ TB, which would also line him up for the home series vs NYY for his next start.
  9. I really think this team is going to go on a tear any day now. They're due, big time, to rattle off like 15 of 18. Haven't done that basically at all this year. Maybe it will start when Buchholz gets back. A rotation of Buch Lester Peavy Lackey Doubront is a really, really strong rotation that can string together 3-4 rotations of really good starts.
  10. Thanks a700 - sometimes this team pisses me off to no end (see: Blue Jays series). Guess it just comes with the territory.
  11. Of course. The anger comes with the excitement. Can't have one without the other.
  12. Anyone else really pumped for this Dodgers series? This is probably the most excited I've been for a late season game in a long, long time.
  13. You could easily make an argument for Uehara. He's been outrageously good this year.
  14. They were 6-2 prior to the Dempster Message. Correlation does not equal causation.
  15. Oh I agree. I was just saying that would be the best case scenario IMO.
  16. For this weekend series, the Sox need to sweep and the Yanks need to take 2/3. I'd be pumped if the Sox were up 3 games on the Rays and 7.5 on the Yanks on Monday.
  17. "living the dream" would have sufficed.
  18. Just for some number crunching - The Sox are 17-15 since the ASB. That's .531 baseball, or an 86 win pace. It's funny, you were considered optimistic this offseason to predict 86 wins. Now the Sox play at that level for a month and it's doom and gloom. Admittedly, they've been playing worse and making boneheaded mistakes, but regardless, it's funny to think about. Brings me to my next point. The Sox have 33 games left. If they continue to play at this .531 pace, that will give them 17.5 wins, and would pin them between 92 and 93 wins to complete the season. In terms of just making a playoff spot, that would basically secure it, as the closes team (Guardians) would have to play .657 baseball (106 win pace) over their final 35 games to win 92 and potentially catch the Sox. And that's if the Sox continue to stumble and play like garbage.
  19. But yeah - Ryu has been extremely hittable in interleague games. 4.10 ERA in IL games, and the Orioles smoked him for 5 ER in 6 IP. Add to the fact that now we have a decent lineup that should be able to hit LHP, with Ross, Bogaerts, a white hot Middlebrooks, Gomes, Victorino, and maybe even Napoli will swing, and we could well sweep the Dodgers. But I'd be happy with 2/3.
  20. CARL. GOOD TO SEE YOU. Seriously though. Where you been?
  21. If the Tigers have the best record in the AL, which I expect they will, and the Rays win the WC playoff, which I would think they will, how good would a Tigers/Rays series be??
  22. Straight up = 1:1.
  23. I'd put 100 on it, only because the Rays, starting tomorrow, play 37 games in 38 days, including a 10 game west coast trip, a 1 day trip to KC, and 20 of those games are away. That's a lot of traveling and a lot of baseball with 1 day off.
  24. So I'll go ahead and get this thing started: AL East: Red Sox AL Central: Tigers AL West: Oakland AL WC #1: Tampa AL WC #2: Cleveland NL East: Braves NL Central: Pirates NL West: Dodgers NL WC #1: Cardinals NL WC #2: Reds
