  1. Eh, man. I don't like Peavy in a bandbox. He did well in SD because of the field. Comisky is pretty big as well. I don't know how I feel about him at Fenway. Danks, on the other hand, is awfully intriguing.
  2. So for 2012, we have Beckett, Lester, Buchholz, Lackey, and ???. The FA market is weak as water. Why not pick up a guy who has a tremendous upside, who's numbers are distorted because of Coors, and who is under club control at a great price for a few years? If the Sox don't get a SP (now or this offseason via trade), they're going to go into 2012 with a huge hole in the 5 slot.
  3. Yeah. You're right. No players every credit the fans for pumping them up and getting them to the next level. Oh, wait....
  4. The fanbase is absolutely part of the team. Obviously nobody here gets on the field and goes out and throws an inning, but think about home field advantage. Think about "the 6th man" in basketball, "the 12th man" in football. Always talking about the fans. Why? Because the fans get you amped up. They increase the intensity and the players perform better. Everyone plays on a different level when there are 37,000 people standing up cheering. The fans may not be part of the team, but they can absolutely have an impact on the games. You refer to them as "we" because you're not an outsider, you're a fan, you watch every game, write on message boards, etc.
  5. The reason Ubaldo is so intriguing is because we need another SP now and for the future. Have you seen the FA class for this coming offseason? The SP market is headlined by CJ Wilson. Seriously. CJ Wilson. And Chris Carpenter. That's about it. I see both of them re-signing with the Rangers and Cardinals anyway. Either way, they're not that good. Look, clearly the Miller/Weiland/Wakefield combo hasn't worked. They've combined for a 5.55 ERA this season (as a starter). And that's trending upward. In Wakefield's last 5 starts, he's got a 7.06 ERA. Andrew Miller has a 7.64 ERA vs AL teams. Weiland could have some promise, but we've already optioned him. So who is our 5th starter. I know you don't need an ace for your 5 man, but right now we've got a 4 man posting a 6.28 ERA, and two 5 men posting a 7.06 and a 7.68 ERA over their past few starts. Is Jimenez perfect? No, of course not. Would he cost a lot? Sure. But who is going to be the Sox 5th man this season, next season? We have no pitchers in the farm that are MLB ready.
  6. Is he hitting like .255 in his last 14 or something?
  7. As long as I continue to contribute to the Red Sox payroll via MLB.TV, jerseys, hats, tickets, concessions, etc, and I'm a huge fan, it's "we".
  8. Oh my God Robertson got bailed out by that homeplate ump. Horrendous call on the Strike 2 to Kennedy.
  9. Ok. Lets get our s*** together. This is ridiculous.
  10. I think Theo will be willing to give up more in a trade for Ubaldo than Cashman. The Sox went all in this offseason, much like the Yankees did in 2009, and the only thing keeping them from a WS win is a solid #4. Lackey won't cut it. And a700 - I agree that our offense weakens without Ortiz obviously, but look: Ellsbury Pedroia Gonzalez Youkilis Crawford Reddick Salty Scutaro Pitcher That's as good as just about any NL team. The reason we sucked so bad in interleague play was because we didn't have Crawford. Replace Darnell/Cameron with Reddick and Crawford and the offense is substantially better.
  11. DAMN!! I thought Ells got himself one.
  12. Damn, Reddick put a freaking charge into that.
  13. For those wondering, yes, that counts Crawford, well played.
  14. Honestly, this team would be about 10 games over .500 if it wasn't for the insanely overpowering offense.
  15. Someone tell me this game is actually in the 8th inning. No freaking way it's only the 5th.
  16. Dear Scutaro Take a f***ing lesson. From, Sutton
  17. Dear God Tek if you swing without seeing a strike I'm going to go ballistic.
  18. Look at ya taking a 2 out, bases loaded walk Crawford!
  19. That was kind of an awkward pitching change, wasnt it?
  20. We have got to get a SP. I don't care who it is. Wakefield and Miller are absolutely not viable options.
