  1. Xander?? No chance. https://twitter.com/redsoxstats/status/536943424323481602 Hanley Ramirez and the Red sox have an agreement on a deal, pending physical, scources say. The plan calls for Ramirez to play left field, which seems to make Yoenis Cespedes a likely trade possibility.
  2. Hanley can pop 30. He's been a solid power hitter in pitcher friendly parks his whole career
  3. https://twitter.com/mattpep15/status/536935202334212097
  4. Are you still saying you don't know if these signings are real?? Because they've been reported by CBS, Fox, ESPN, all of the MLB national writers, the list goes on. The deals are done.
  5. Easy Fred. Let it shake out. Clearly the Sox want to go after pitchers via trade, and had to build depth to be able to make said trades. Let it play out. Take a deep breath. Today is a good day.
  6. Ok. We will see. That's s huge ring for just anybody
  7. Yeah....panda on his way to Boston to sign
  8. HanRam heading to Boston for 5/90. That is.....a steal. An absolute steal
  9. Doesn't make a ton of sense to me. They would be spending a ton of money for no reason. More likely they trade Cespedes to Seattle for Iwakuma, or something of that caliber trade. All I know is that I've heard from some people with sources inside NESN that Cherrington has a couple head spinning trades up his sleeve right now, he's just having to set them up right now. Maybe it is Bogaerts that goes, but I would be surprised.
  10. They have pennies on the books in 2016. Like 42mm. They can blow past the LT this year and recoup in 2016, no problem at all.
  11. It's what WEEI is reporting. Obviously there would be a corresponding move. Cespedes and Victorino likely would get dealt for a SP. Outfield would be HanRam - Castillo - Betts. Lucchino spoke strongly prior to 2013 about building a team with deep depth, ie players who are very good and can play multiple positions so that when injuries occur, they are still in good position. Hanley can play SS/3B/LF. He would be a solid addition
  12. HanRam in LF
  13. Comin in hot!!!
  14. Another thing is that Bowden said in the radio that when he got this tweet, he texted both camps for confirmation/denial. He did not receive any response from either camp. He said on air that typically when he will send a text asking about the validity of a rumor, he gets an immediate response shooting down the rumor. Given that he received no response, perhaps there is more to it.
  15. So you hope. Same guy who broke Stanton extension and said the Cards were favorites on Heyward two days before anyone broke that. Hanley and Stanton have the same agents. Sounds like these guys have an in with those agents. Depending on how early in the signing it is, it could be 3-4 hours before it breaks by the national writers
  16. So....sounds like Hanley is heading to Boston
  17. Seems like Sandoval may be the piece that teeters the offseason for the Sox. Sign Panda? Send Cecchini over along with Owens and Marrero for Hamels, then sign Lester and let guys like Workman, Webster, and RDLR round out the pen and the 5th slot in the rotation. Perhaps they give Masterson 1/10 and line him up in the 5 slot. He has the potential to be a Cy Young candidate when he's right (2011, 2013).
  18. Pepen reporting that the Sox offered 6/120 to Lester. Good offer but that he is looking for that 7th year.
  19. Dad's with Daughters. I like it! Though sometimes it will be a club, sometimes it will be a support group!!
  20. I don't think there is a single left handed throwing 3B in baseball, minors or majors.
  21. Yeah I meant to say Francisco and Middlebrooks platoon, not Sandoval and Middlebrooks. As for them both being LHH, Pal is saying that Holt has good enough splits vs LHP to merit him playing L on L. Problem is that his numbers v LHP were artifically inflated due to a .388 BABIP. That number will suppress and he will be around a .700 OPS guy v LHP. For Holt's career, he's got a 101 wRC+ vs LHP and that is with a .364 BABIP. You're just getting zero production from him there. Doesn't make sense to me. It just doesn't fit.
  22. Massive, enormous, humongous congratulations to you! My wife and I had our first on 8/21, a daughter as well. It's the best, I can't even come up with words to describe it, it's just simply the best. Hope you got a good sleeper!! If you guys are planning on swaddling, we tried using those swaddle blankets by Aden and Anais, but she kept squirming out of them and the blanket would end up around her face in the middle of the night (some serious freak outs occurred) so we then bought these sleep sack/swaddle blanket combos (link at bottom). They are great because they are Velcro so she can't wiggle out of them, the blanket won't go around her face, and she has plenty of room to kick her legs (one issue people have with swaddling is that if you swaddle the legs too tight and they can't kick, it can cause hip problems, so the fact that this is a sleep sack with tons of room in the legs is absolutely ideal, maybe Jackso can touch on this from an orthopedic standpoint). Anyway, it's the one thing I would buy for anyone having a baby. Good luck buddy!! And don't forget, no baby ever died from crying. When you get pushed past the brink of frustration at 2 am (and you can will), and the baby is wailing, put her down and walk away. And every single parent feels that same way where the cries make you insane, so don't feel bad for feeling this way (nobody ever told me that). http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003E6OBMA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1416578512&sr=1-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40
  23. Think we can start to move on from Sandoval. If there is little separations, he should go back to SF. Sox need to get moving, though. May need to start talking to Headley and Hanley. Also bid big on Yoan Mancada
  24. Hypothetical question - would you trade Mookie Betts and Henry Owens/Eddy Rodriguez for Longo?? I'm not sure he is available but maybe he is, and if he is, that would be a pretty solid pick up. He had a really down year last year but, like Pedroia, even in his down years he's a stud because of defense. I really hope Cherrington makes a call on him to at least explore that possibility. The Rays are in full on rebuilding mode with new everything (FO, manager, no Price, no Hellickson), noreason really to keep Longo.
  25. Comparing OPS of the two guys is meaningless given the divisions and the parks. Sandoval was a 3 win player last year (fWar) and Francisco was a 0.7 win player. Going with a Sandoval - Middlebrooks platoon would result in probably 30 HR pop from the left side but 35%+ K%, extremely low OBP, and there is no way on Gods green earth that you can convince me that Middlebrooks and Francisco are going to be effective enough of a platoon to knock Holt, Craig, or Victorino off this roster. The Sox can't use two roster spots for 3B/1B combo. You need way more versatility than that. And you can't have 1 OF reserve. So what is your bench? You have 3 slots and a C. You need two OF of Vic, Craig, And Nava. It just doesn't add up. The Sox would be screwing themselves in terms of versatility and middle infield depth. Like where your head is, thinking outside the box, but I think this one might be a dud.
