  1. I didn't have a huge issue with Ortiz getting PR for there. My problem was that he pinch runs for Ortiz, and when you do that, you commit 100% to winning the game that inning. And then he goes completely soft and lets Drew hit rather than Bogaerts. That was mind boggling. It's like he was in between decisions all night, he'd start to do one thing and then he wouldn't follow through. I can 110% guarantee you something right now. If it was 2nd and 3rd, 2 outs and Ortiz was up, Maddon would have rolled the ball to the plate 4 times.
  2. I hope Farrell didn't sleep a wink last night. That decision was absolutely outrageous. Buchholz could have run cutters starting on the black or just off it, and cutting off the plate, and 2 seamers starting on the insider corner and bearing down on the hands. No pitch he threw to Longo should have been a strike. None. If he was going to get the bat on the ball, it better be a jam shot or off the end of the bat. It's incomprehensible.
  3. If there was ever a game I would bet on, it would be this one. Sox are going to win tonight. Count on it.
  4. I really, really, really feel like Peavy is going to give us a game like he threw against the Dodgers in August. I'm calling it now. Complete game gem from Peavy. Strike that 8-3 prediction. It's going to be 8-1.
  5. Damn. Last night sucked. But, that was the Rays best pitcher, and they had to walk off. Peavy is a much better pitcher than Hellickson, no question. Sox win tonight, 8-3, and the score is closer than the game.
  6. Love that Farrell pulls Ortiz out of the game, but no, never my binky Drew. Unreal. It makes me sick. IF YOURE GOING TO PULL ORTIZ AND PLAY FOR THE WIN THEN DONT BE A PUSSY WHEN DREW GETS UP!!!!!
  7. Going to beat ourselves with walks.
  8. Bogaerts is officially a wasted roster slot at this point. Thanks for not giving the team a shot in that spot, Farrell. No chance.
  9. Ohhh, so now that's a strike. How convenient for the Rays
  10. My two favorite stats of the day: 1. Red Sox Run Differential vs Rays during season (19 games): +14 Red Sox Run Differential vs Rays during postseason (2 games): +13 2. Red Sox, as a team, are hitting .352/.413/.577. AS. A. TEAM. AGAINST PRICE AND MOORE!!! My goodness. That's outrageous. Buch dominates today. Sox win, 6-1.
  11. Buchholz going to embarrass the Rays tonight. 8 IP, 1 ER, 7 K's, 2 BB. Red Sox win, 6-1. Koji slams the door in the 9th even though it's a 5 run game because the Sox won't play again until Saturday.
  12. This is the sign. I am 3 rows back behind the Sox on deck circle.
  13. I will be at the game tonight. With a sign. This sign.
  14. Being at that game was absolutely fantastic. I'm fairly certain Myers no longer has a soul. I've not heard Fenway chant that loud ever. Myyyyy-errrrsss. Oh man. That was gold. I sat down and this old guy, probably mid 80's, smelled like old squash and loved the Red Sox. First thing he says to me 'I don't want to just beat the rays. I want to demolish them. One of those 12-2 games. Destroy all those little rat bastards' Hilarious, and he called the score perfectly. Nobody even knew how to react to that Myers play. It was so weird and confusing. Everyone was like 'wat!' Anyway, SFF at the game mojo stayed strong, as did lady SFF at the game mojo. Both will be in effect tomorrow. 3 rows behind the on deck circle. With a Get Beard shirt.
  15. SFF At The Game Mojo in effect tomorrow and Saturday. As a side note, Matt Moore is going to walk the stadium tomorrow. In September, when the Rays needed him to step up, he walked 20 batters in 29 IP. That's a 6.21 BB.9. And even worse in his final 3 starts, when the pressure was really on. 6.42 BB/9, 5.02 ERA. Red Sox win, 7-2 tomorrow and make a big statement.
  16. Considering his BB% has almost doubled since returning from Pawtucket, I think it's reasonable to expect a .330 OBP from him going forward. He is going to be a very good 3B/#6 hitter for years to come
  17. It's also based in large part on comparative measures. For example, MLB league average 3B has a .317 OBP this year, so Middlebrooks, on the year, is well below that mark. It should be noted, though, that he's got a .354 OBP since returning, and has 11 BB in 38 games. This is a huge contrast to his 9 BB in his 53 games to start the year. His approach and mechanics have certainly changed. Going forward, a line of .280/.330/.485 is certainly reasonable.
  18. JBJ isn't going to be as good as Ellsbury next year, but you can certainly bet that in 2-3 years, Bradley is going to be as good or better than Ellsbury is, and that is why you don't resign Ellsbury but you do go with your young talent that has 6-8 cheap years of high caliber, prime seasons remaining vs 2-3 excessively expensive prime seasons remaining. It's a no brainer.
  19. He'll be 33 coming off a broken wrist and playing in a park with a huge RF. I'm not interested in Grandy.
  20. They're going to do their due diligence. They're not going to sign him. Because they don't need him. They've got entirely too much talent between their starting 5, Dempster, plus 4 guys in Pawtucket (Barnes, Ranaudo, Webster, Workman), and a guy in Portland who could very well be up by midseason 2015, a la Workman, in Owens. I'm sorry that this hurts your feelings, but you're wrong. If they're going to spend 100mm+ on a player, why would they spend it on an area of strength?? It makes no sense. They don't need him. At all.
  21. Typically, yes. But over the next couple of years? The market is horrendous. For years, the league would feast on free agents. Now, too many of them have come back and bitten the teams in the ass, so they're locking up their young players long term and not letting them hit the open market. This is one of the major reasons that I think you go after Stanton, by the way, because you need that power bat when Ortiz is done and there's nothing out there to replace him. 2014 Free Agent Listing: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/02/2014-mlb-free-agents.html 2015 Free Agent Listing: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/02/2015-mlb-free-agents.html For this upcoming offseason, hitters like Granderson, Ellsbury, Choo, Cruz, and Pence will run the market. But they're all 30-33 years old. Next year, it's way more disgusting. Virtually nothing out there. Either overspend in dollars on a 30+ year old player for 5-6 years, or you're going to have to give up some prospects for a player.
  22. They have no budget. Like, at all. They're like the early 2000's Yankees. Just spend. They will probably lock up Kershaw, HanRam, and Cano.
