  1. There has never been a $16mm DH. If they make their decision based on past markets, then they will look at Vlad. 2010: Hit .300/.345/.496 with 29 HR, 115 RBI for Texas. 2011: Signed a contract with BAL for 1 year/$8mm. There are plenty of comparable DH's (Napoli, Vlad), and none of them have even sniffed $12mm, much less $16mm.
  2. We have no idea what they're going to do. They could very well go off and trade a bunch of prospects for HanRam and Anibal Sanchez. I think Cherry has something up his sleeve, and it's going to blow some minds.
  3. I agree with this. We could definitely use that RH bat as well. I'm not justifying that we kept Ortiz, but if we were definitely going to keep him, I don't necessarily disagree with this play after thinking about it.
  4. Oswalt has averaged 206 IP over the past 8 seasons. He's a workhorse that was sidelined for the first time in a while last season, but came back as strong as he's ever been.
  5. Wandy is a LHP that throws about 89 mph. Right handed hitters would put dents in the monster all game.
  6. No way they take Wandy over Oswalt. I think this is just them keeping tabs in a worst-case scenario where Oswalt and the Sox can't agree to terms.
  7. After thinking about our options (Aviles, Punto, Iggy, or Pedroia move to SS), I really think installing elite defense up the middle would be the best for the team.
  8. It was arthroscopic so it was the least possibly invasive. I honestly think he'll be fine. But who knows. Never know how its going to heal.
  9. How is that a big if?? It's more likely than not now that we freed up $$$.
  10. Well that's fine, because we don't need to hide Aviles's bat. So make Aviles the starting SS until Crawford comes back. Then you make Aviles and Sweeney a platoon in RF, and have Iglesias as the starting SS by mid April. I'm actually thinking Crawford will be back for Opening day, but that's just my opinion.
  11. Bartlett really is not that good at all. I'd rather have Iggy there than Bartlett, not even close.
  12. Probably. I'm still all in for having Iglesias play SS every day. Let him win a gold glove and just hide his bat in the line up.
  13. Aviles was 4th in ROY. He's a solid player. And he's got a ton of versatility. Like I said earlier. I'd love to see us put Iggy at SS this year and just let him shine defensively and be a Varitek offensively. We can very easily hide his bat in this lineup. And having Iggy and Pedey up the middle would be a show.
  14. The fact that you call Aviles a "black hole at SS" when he has a higher OPS+ over the past 2 seasons than Jeter makes me lose all faith on Yankees fans being logical.
  15. Wow. That's laughable. Discounting 1,300 PA because he has had a career OPS+ higher than Jeter's over the past 2 years. And then you talk about a high BABIP?!?! Hahahaha. That's hilarious dude. JETER HAS A f***ING CAREER BABIP OF .355!!!!! THE HIGHEST AVILES HAS EVER HAD WAS .357!!!!!
