  1. Make fun of me if you want, but I went out there. And I got to meet Lucchino.
  2. I am saying I would rather have Lester in 2012 as well, regardless of cost, mainly due to the fact that CC is a DL trip waiting to happen after all of the innings he logs every year. In terms of pure talent, they are a wash. From 2012 on, I take Lester, regardless of cost, and I think Lester outperforms CC in 2012.
  3. Dude. Baseball-Reference. You only use fangraphs because it overvalues IP. I would take a young, fit Lester for 200-210 IP over CC any day of the week.
  4. Dude you aren't thinking at all. I guess I had too high of expectations for you. What controls IP? Pitch counts. Who throws more pitches? Guys who have higher K rates (and for that matter, higher BB rates). CC throws to contact more, Lester strikes more people out. I'd rather have someone who can get out of a big spot with a K than to have someone who gets 2 outs more a start. But regardless, they are a wash.
  5. Everything that I've seen has us over the cap already. Which is infuriating.
  6. How so?? They have put up virtually the exact same stats over the past 3 years outside of IP. And Lester still was throwing 200+ IP each season. You want to know what is naive? Claiming CC is better because, on average, he gets 2 more outs a game. That's pretty ridiculous.
  7. CC and Lester are a wash. ERA+ are the exact same over the past 3 years. To be honest, if we're looking at 2012, I'd much rather have Lester. He's younger and has fewer innings logged on his arm in the past 3 years. He's good for 200+ IP a year at an ERA of around 3.30. He's younger than CC, too. Talent is a wash, as indicated by ERA+, ERA, FIP, etc. Going forward, I'll take the guy with the lower innings over the past few years.
  8. Well. That's awesome that we traded Scutaro for nothing.
  9. Youkilis is hardly one of our best hitters when he has played 1 full season (162 games) over the past 2 years. I'd definitely take WMB over Youk if he excels half as much as he did last year in AA/AAA. And as far as Lavarnway goes - you can't hold on to Papi forever. It will absolutely be time to let him walk next offseason. But I'm sure as soon as he hits .220 this April, you'll be screaming for Lavarnway.
  10. Why not?? Middlebrooks and Lavarnway are both guys who will put up 20-25 HR a season. I'd much, much, much rather have Cole Hamels then Youk and Ortiz.
  11. Something has to get me through this offseason!
  12. No idea. By the way - Is anyone else looking forward to next offseason when Lackey, Ortiz, Youk, Jenks, and DiceK are off our books, and we can go out and sign Cole Hamels?? Lester - Hamels - Beckett - Buchholz - Bard/Aceves/Lackey/Wilson?? That's going to be sick.
  13. Hey Kermit. Why don't you forget about Miss Piggy for a few minutes and take your blinders off. This team needs another SP worse than you can imagine! And if you can't see that, how the hell do you plan on using the bullpen??
  14. Seriously. I can only update MLB The Show's rosters so many times before I get tired of that.
  15. This has been a polar opposite offseason compared to last year. Brutal. Boring. This is typically an extremely exciting time. This year, it's just bleh.
  16. Cody Ross took #7 for the Sox. I gotta say, I love how enthusiastic and pumped this guy is to be playing for the Sox. You can be damn sure that if Ellsbury stole home while he was hitting, he would go ballistic.
  17. Wheeler was hurt during the 1st half. 2nd half he came back and threw to a 3.43 ERA.
  18. LT calc is already projected at $185-190 by Alex Speier of WEEI, and he knows his s***.
  19. Floyd's salary of $7mm is much higher than his AAV of 3.875mm. This is probably why he's very appealing to the Sox. Very small hit on LT calc.
