  1. They tried to manufacture a run earlier in the game but for some reason Shoppach doesn't understand the concept of bunting hard to the 3rd baseman to move over the runners. All this while Lavarnway is sitting in AAA. By the way, on D&C this morning, Valentine said that when Lavarnway is ready to go as a big league catcher, he's going to be starting and not splitting time behind Salty.
  2. He's done. Mark my words - the guy is toast. He's trying to change his batting stance to go back to the 2009 and 2010 version of himself but he doesn't have the same bat speed as he used to so he's bailing on pitches so he doesn't get beat and get jammed, and now he's pulling off of everything and his bat is in the hitting zone for about 0.002 seconds.
  3. It's fine, I'm clearly overreacting and having a meltdown but I'm so sick and tired of this team playing like a bunch of overpaid, entitled pieces of crap. It's the most agonizing thing to witness the talent this team has go out and perform at an AA level of play.
  4. That's not the situation. This team has the players to win 94-98 games. It's the way that the players are playing. Today, for example, are you kidding me?? You let Ricky Romero mow through the lineup without even putting up an effort? The guy was at like 90 pitches through 8 IP. For the love of God, grind out an AB and work the pitch count if he's so much better than you that you can't hit him. Apparently, the Blue Jays pitching staff has just gone from one of the worst in the MLB to one of the best in the MLB, according to some of the hitters. All I hear about is how Henderson Alvarez reminds the players of King Felix, how Kyle Drabek is a completely different pitcher than he was last year, and now today, I'm sure they're going to say Romero had some of the nastiest stuff they've seen. Stop making excuses and manufacture some damn runs. First thing - move Youkilis down to around the 8 hole. That guy is absolutely clueless at the plate right now. Hell, I'm fine with making a drastic move. Bring up Middlebrooks, he's cruising right now in AAA and hitting .364 with a .955 OPS in that tiny ass sample size, but regardless, it's not Youk's numbers that I'm concerned about. It's his approach, his swing, his timing, his defense, everything. The Greek God of Walks hasn't gotten a free pass yet, he's struck out in 5 of 16 at bats, and when he's not striking out, he's grounding into double plays. Of his 16 at bats so far, he's either GIDP or K'd in 7 of them. He's trying to pull everything in sight and he has zero plate discipline. And that's not even mentioning the game yesterday where he turned into a spectator at 3rd base while Encarnacion conveniently went from 2nd to 3rd on a ground ball by Lawrie that Punto had no play on at 1st but would have had a play at 3rd if Youk was covering. God, I hate Youkilis.
  5. Fine, if they right the ship then that's fine. But you're telling me that you're proud of the effort that this team is giving right now?? I'm sorry, call me a bandwagon fan if you want to even though I've been cheering for this team since 1997, but there's a difference between a team trying to grind it out vs an entitled team that is reportedly more concerned about clubhouse issues than winning games. I can't fathom how some of these guys can sit there and go through another start like this after last September. Good teams find a way to win baseball games.
  6. Not sarcasm. I'm really thinking about not going. It's not at all enjoyable to watch this team play right now, so why would I pay money to go watch them lose over and over again?? I wouldn't pay to watch them play last September, so what has changed?? Sure, it's been 6 games, but what has changed with this team from last September to this April? The pitching? It's just as bad. The offense? Scoring far less runs, hell even last September they were scoring 5-6 a game.
  7. I'm actually so livid with this team that I am sellin my tickets to Sundys game and to the Patriots Day game. Not going to support a team who puts out that little effort. This team made the most seamless possible transition from September to April, and they are still playing with zero heart and even less effort. Pathetic.
  8. Aheeeeeeemmmmm. Who exactly was our RF (.652 OPS in 2011), SS, and C last year? Oh, those 112 games from Scutaro? You're trying to tell me this offense would be great if we had Scutaro? He is the difference maker??
  9. This team makes watching baseball one of the more unenjoyable it's been in years. Just absolutely pathetic. Zero life to this team.
  10. Woah! We scored first!!!
  11. Going to be a resounding win for the Sox today. Lester goes 8 IP, 1 ER. Romero gets lit up. Sox win, 8-1. By the way, anyone else notice a trend here? Game 1 of both series: Can't hit until 9th inning, make 9th inning comeback vs closer. Game 2 of both series: Can't hit well at all, get beat up pretty bad. Game 3? Sox offense comes out and blasts their way to a win today. Lester will be lights out.
  12. Considering the Jays put 17 balls in play against the Bard, and of those balls in play, 8 went for hits (.471 BABIP), I'd say that he was pretty damn unlucky. 11 of those 17 balls in play were ground balls, too. Those numbers will normalize. Like Bard says, if those numbers are normal, he gives up 2 ER and is pitching into the 7th. He threw well. Just was on the bad side of luck. I mean that swing by Adam Lind in the 1st? Are you kidding me??? Please. What a bitch hit.
  13. Here's how it happens in my head. Pedroia walk EDIT: Reaches on error Gonzo single Ortiz walk Youkilis double (7-3) Sweeney ground out (7-4) Ross HR (7-6) Salty HR (7-7)
  14. 1-4 really sucks. But, coming into TOR, I was hoping to take 2/3, and then 3/4 vs TB. That puts us at .500 and we can start to take off from there.
  15. Wow. Are you kidding me McClelland?? How do you blow a call THAT bad?? http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/cache/location.php-pitchSel=476601&game=gid_2012_04_10_bosmlb_tormlb_1&batterX=58&innings=yyyyyyyyy&sp_type=1&s_type=3.gif Yeah that is probably a ball...
  16. Middlebrooks has gotta be licking his chops right now, the way Youkilis is playing. And he's doing nothing to disprove his own talent, hitting .364 with a .955 OPS. Kruk says the kid reminds him a lot of David Freese. Yes please.
  17. No way, they made another horseshit play.... Maybe they'll go in and score 3 more runs on some 18 hoppers through the infield.
  18. Also I'll take a walk to Punto.
  19. Lets go. Here we go. Punto needs to slap one down a line here and let the top of the order roll over.
  20. Atta boy Sweeney! Lets go. How about a gapper, maybe your first bomb there C Ross?
  21. This team is coming back. Count on it. I have a good feeling about it. Lets go. Start it up, Sweeney. By the way, Sweeney is going to lead off the most innings this year because he's hitting behind Mr. GIDP.
