  1. Ugh, if onlyyy! I know I have no chance, no need to tease. Nice K, Youk. Middlebrooks would have gone yard. (Which is what I'm going to say everytime Youk gets out from now on. Get used to it).
  2. Papi!!! Ugh. Youk. Just strike out or bunt so you don't GIDP please!
  3. Ortiz is about to blast this.
  4. Wait. Is my broadcast just fast? He lost his PG when he walked Aviles. He lost is No No when he gave up the hit to Pedroia. He lost his shutout when he gave up the RBI double to Gonzo.
  5. Not sure. Still no official word.
  6. Maybe not as bad as anticipated?
  7. Nick Cafardo on twitter said "Looks like Crawford will miss 3 months", and now a lot of beat writers (Pete Abe, Scott Lauber, Cafardo) are saying that Crawford saw Dr. Andrews today and that they are going to issue a statement shortly.
  8. The Sox are about to issue a statement. Crawford saw Dr. Andrews today. I'm very confused, though. 3 months isn't nearly long enough to recover from surgery. So if it's something that doesn't require surgery, what could it be that would require 2.5 - 3 months of rest?
  9. Fortunately, Ellsbury and likely Kalish will both be back around June or July, although Kalish will need some time in AAA before he gets up. Kalish said via twitter that it won't be too much longer until he is ready to get in a game. If he is in a game by mid to late May, he could be with the Sox by early July or the ASB.
  10. Good God, I can't wait to have a lefty who can get a lefty out.
  11. Wow. Just wow. Ellsbury will be back before Crawford. We're going to have a monster team in July, August, and September with Bard back to the pen by then, Ellsbury back, Crawford back, Bailey back... Not sure if this means Crawford misses a total of 3 months (i.e. April, May, June) or if he misses 3 additional months from today (May, June, July). Either way, this blows.
  12. It's the Humber Games, where the Red Sox are going to give Phil a giant slice of Humber pie tonight after his perfect game. That's all I got. I'll be here all week.
  13. All fair points. Barnes is older, but like you said, his velocity and stuff is K'ing 1.5x what Campos is K'ing right now with similar K rates, so I give Barnes an edge there because he's performing extremely well and dominating the hitters like an elite prospect should be doing to SALLY hitters (a la Bundy). I place Kalish above him because we have seen him at the big league level having success at the age of 22. I can see how you wouldn't put Kalish above Campos, but I think if he didn't use up his rookie status he would be top 100. Swihart has only played in 14 games, and this is his first year in professional baseball, whereas Campos had thrown 171 innings of professional baseball prior to this year, so I would expect Campos to outperform Swihart initially. Either way, Campos is not a top 3 prospect for the Sox. He's would barely crack the top 5 when you factor Swihart, Bogaerts, Barnes, and Middlebrooks. Henry Owens is another guy to keep an eye on. He's only 19 and is in his first season of professional baseball and having some control problems (6.75 BB/9), but he's got a ridiculous 18.56 K/9 thus far.
  14. Brentz is a stretch. The rest?? Not at all. Swihart was ranked 72nd by BA this year. And he didn't even play in the minors last year. Campos was in the minors and isn't ranked. Kalish is absolutely a better prospect and has shown that he can compete at the highest of levels at the age of 22. Lavarnway? Come on dude. He absolutely mashes. And he does it against AAA pitching. Campos is throwing against SALLY league hitters. Bogaerts, Middlebrooks, and Swihart are all top 100 prospects. So that's the top 3 right there. Barnes is better than Campos, so that's the top 4. So, AT BEST, Campos is the 5th best, and he isn't even that good IMO.
  15. Just to back this up, here are Buch's stats from each start this year. 4/08 - Avg FB: 91.80, Max FB: 93.50 4/14 - Avg FB: 91.33, Max FB: 93.30 4/20 - Avg FB: 92.16, Max FB: 95.20 4/25 - Avg FB: 92.11, Max FB: 94.40 So he's increasing, albeit a slow increase, but as he builds strength and becomes more comfortable with his back, he'll likely let loose a little more each outing.
  16. Then why isn't he?? It's not like this is his first year in MiLB.
  17. Really?? Really??? Middlebrooks. Kalish. Lavarnway. Bogaerts. Jacobs. Barnes. Swihart. Brentz. All better than Campos right now. And Barnes hasn't allowed a run in the same league, and has K'd 14.5/9 and touching 101 mph. But nobody is talking about it because he's just placed too low. Just like Campos.
  18. Olney is the only person I've heard say anything about significant time missed. And the fact that guys like Pete Abe, Sean McAdam, Tomase, Shaughnessy, Cafardo, Mazz, et all are not mentioning anything related to this makes me think that Olney is jumping to a conclusion based on the appointment w Dr. Andrews rather than having any substantiating evidence of a serious injury.
  19. I honestly think this is all a massive, massive overreaction. This smells so much of Beckett's thumb it's insane. The fact that V said that Crawford would play in a big game makes me think this is nothing but precautionary just to make sure Crawford is fine before he starts a throwing program.
  20. Did he say that in an article? The only thing I saw him say was that Crawford will miss significant time via twitter. But what is the definition of "significant"? To me, if he's back on June 1, that is missing 33% of the season and is definitely significant.
