that's the point i was trying to make as well. sometimes stuff happens that can't be predicted by statistical trends or scouting. baseball's a funny sport and bullpens are the most volatile part of any team

if the yankees lose their next 2 games and we win our next 2, destiny would be in our own hands again. we'd be 3 games back with 3 games left against the yankees i imagine hell would also freeze over and pigs would fly. that might be fun

i know this may sound crazy, but i think this front office actually does a pretty good job and they put together a bullpen which looked pretty good on paper. sometimes things just don't work out

i was just having fun because up until now you had refused to propose any alternative to what the front office did. and perhaps now you appreciate the whole front office thing a little more. you had 20/20 vision and it took you 3 times to get it right

the 2002 red sox were the last al team to have 2 pitchers who threw 150+ pitches with an era under 3. they had 3 pitchers to accomplish that feat - pedro martinez, derek lowe and tim wakefield. they also scored the second most runs in baseball that year and somehow finished 6 games out of the wildcard
