  1. They pulled a Yankees.
  2. You were trying to pat yourself on the back saying how you "touted them pretty hard" before they became successful with the Yankees when in reality you said the Yankees should have sold high on them and traded them. You didn't say anything about Gardner's "slap ability", you said "he doesn't make contact enough to be a top of the order hitter" and "he may be best served as a 4th outfielder".
  3. Gammons says that the Red Sox tried to acquire Vazquez via trade last year, and likens him to Edgar Renteria. http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2010/05/09/gammons-on-the-big-show-leave-buchholz-in-rotation/ And Murray Chass interviewed Cashman who said that the Red Sox also attempted to acquire Granderson but they didn't have a cheap, major league centerfielder to offer the Tigers in return. http://www.murraychass.com/?p=1876 Can you imagine how much further back in the standings we'd be if we had brought in a guy for our third starter who's struggled in the American League East and our center fielder was on the DL? Oh, wait...
  4. The Yankees have claimed pitcher Shane Lindsay from the Rockies. Lindsay is a 25-year-old righty who's walked more than a batter an inning in Triple A this year. He has good stuff (12.5 K/9 in the minors) but he's always struggled with his control. They released righty Christian Garcia, who recently underwent Tommy John Surgery for the second time. Garcia, a third round pick in 2004, was a top Yankees prospect until 2007 when he had Tommy John Surgery for the first time. He is 24 years old. http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2010/05/14/garcia-released-lindsay-claimed/
  5. Well I don't cary a computer with around with me everywhere, and I wasn't home during the game so it was kind of hard for me to object on here
  6. It was great to see Ortiz to continue to mash the ball, those two home runs were moon shots. His .999 OPS on the month has raised his overall OPS to a somewhat respectable .766 on the season. We just have to keep winning series and we'll eventually have a playoff spot. Since our 4-9 start to the year, we've gone 15-8 and won 5 out of 7 series.
  7. I didn't just imply that the Yankees made a mistake. I said that they would have been better off with Damon on the team and Austin Jackson in their farm system than they are this year with Granderson. As for the Granderson trade itself, who knows how that will work out. Granderson's under contract with the Yankees for 3 more years.
  8. Hughes is a great pitcher but eventually his .213 BABIP is going to explode on him and he'll revert to this 3.86 xFIP.
  9. Jason Bay's WAR - 0.4 John Lackey's WAR - 0.5 WAR Mike Cameron's WAR - 0.1 WAR So we've come out positive so far, even with Cameron on the DL for most of the season.
  10. Yeah, Redding's pretty much as bad as it gets. Not only does he have a career ERA of nearly 5, but he was released from the Nationals and then the Mets. 'Nuf said. It seems like a minor league fodder move. The timing of it is strange since Vazquez just had a good start and I haven't heard anything about Pettitte's injury being worse than expected. I can't see him being made a reliever since he doesn't have any plus pitches.
