Unless they change the schedule so that every NE and midwest team is playing south and west for 2 weeks, it's a case of some teams having to be at home. I don't mind starting on the road, but eleven goddamn games is ridiculous.
I should have made it clear this isn't about the Yankees right now, but just a general question about the two managers. I don't follow the team close enough, but my feeling is they might be both similar, and not in a good way?
Question for the New Stats people (because I can't spell saberwhatsname).
Over the course of a full season, does playing the righty/lefty matchup with your starting lineup vs that day's starter really make much of a significant difference to run production?
Also also...if you give him an extra two days rest and then start him on a freezing day, won't that risk the arm even more? Asking you guys who know way more about pitching than I do.
Just from reading this thread makes me concerned about the Sale and Xander extensions. How do you extend a pitcher if his shoulder is such a concern that he's going easy in early April?
Odd how the offense has been shut out 2 games after scoring nicely in the first four. That's baseball, I guess.
But a point you allude to is what is his realistic trade value, especially as a rental, since he seems intent on FA, and where most teams might prefer the latter to giving up talent AND a mega contract.
It's easy to sit here at a computer screen and throw out names. Obviously we don't know what players would be available as a return. I'm just saying that we should be open to any eventuality if it makes sense.
