  1. LOL at GONE-zaga.
  2. You could say "it's just ST" if it wasn't for last year.
  3. Now you are doing an Emmz and changing the argument. Did you or did you not say "lots of Latino countries don't play soccer?" I don't give a s*** how POPULAR it is, the question is DO THEY PLAY IT. Regardless, I am done with this discussion. Peace out.
  4. O rly? Name a "lot" of Latin countries that don't have a Football Association and don't belong to a regional governing body under FIFA. Here, I'll even save you the trouble. They'll be all the countries not listed here: http://www.concacaf.com/page/NationalAssociations/0,,12813,00.html http://www.conmebol.com/en/content/national-associations-conmebol-0 Now who's ignorant? End of the day, bro, I care less about how Latinos celebrate than I do about Passan ripping people for doing what they've done ever since baseball was invented - ie cheer when there is something worth cheering about, and only then. I already said if people want to act different, fine within reason, that's really not the point.
  5. The first sentence is basically what I was saying. I stand by my comment that baseball is not soccer. Different sports, different tempos and atmospheres. Pointing out the difference in a Japanese soccer game is pointless when in 95% of the world the crowds are very passionate (and often willing to rip the other team's supporters apart before or after the game, given half a chance). The second works both ways....just because my way isn't the way Passan thinks it should be doesn't make me wrong. I think HE was the one being insensitive to Americans who want to enjoy a quiet game of baseball. That's what should be taken away from this. If people want to dance, though it's out of place, that's OK, but it doesn't mean people SHOULD do and their fandom is in question if they don't.
  6. After every good article, Jeff Passen quickly goes back to being terrible. Now he's bitching that U.S. fans aren't passionate enough at games because they're not jumping up and down and making noise like the Latino fans. f*** that s***. Baseball isn't soccer. It's too slow with too little happening for much of the game to be dancing around like idiots. And the Thunderstix were a great success when Anaheim used them. I go to a game, I want to watch a game. In my seat. I'll jump up when my team hits a homer, I'll clap, I'll make noise when the videoboard asks for it. And I will watch the game without developing a migraine (unless the PA is too loud).
  7. No, wasn't thinking of that, the question just popped into my head. Thanks for the response.

  9. where IS Emmz?
  10. Surely only because they've been successful? If they went out 0-3, I doubt so many people would be enthused. Time will tell if that interest level can be sustained, even if they win the tournament.
  11. And, perhaps less seriously, Chipper Jones. I think Cashman was just saying that in a casual "it would be great if" type way. Surely there will be a bunch of guys available when teams make their roster cuts that will be as good, if not better, than Lee?
  12. Anyone know the answer to this? Say a player has two seasons left on his contract, but retires in the offseason. So OK, he forfeits that money. But what if he changes his mind any time during those two years, and comes back, but wants to sign with a different team? Can he do that, or does the first team somehow still have "rights" to him for those two seasons?
  13. Oh man....
  14. I can't watch even if I wanted to...I don't have cable. As other people are saying this thing is either ill-conceived, ill-timed, or both. So many top players have declined to play, the games are on an obscure cable channel... I don't often agree with Jeff Passan but he was right today in criticizing Torre for pandering to his players' clubs instead of managing to win. Stanton benched for Victorino? Is this real life? I'd be all for this contest if these issues were properly dealt with, except they should just have integrated this format into the existing World Cup and called it as such.
  15. I hope Japan wins the whole thing. Anything to turn people off even more and get this ******** canceled is fine by me.
  16. This whole tournament is a farce. Mercy rule? Really??
  17. USA's jerseys and caps suck ass, but which team's doesn't?
  18. OK, found the lineup. He's doing R,L,R,L,R. I hate managers who overthink things.
  19. Where the hell are the lineups posted? Can't see them anywhere.
  20. It's more of a crapshoot with hockey, to be sure. At first, this streak was a good story but I'm sick of hearing about it now and just want it to end.
  21. Just give the Blackhawks the cup now and be done with it.

  23. I've been battling a bad case of the Mondays....every day.
  24. He works in a Chinese restaurant?
  25. Yet they'll still make the playoffs. Book it.
