    What is Selig thinking with this thing? Either go the whole hog or forget it. Hyping it, then showing the games on MLBN is stupid. This should be done away with and just have the baseball World Cup every 4 years and market the crap out of that (although the timing might still mean a lot of top players miss it).

    Why is Mike Trout's agent upset? He knows the rules. For the first three years the team gets to pay what it wants - why are they gonna do more than pay the lowest that they can? It's a business. Mike's best bet is keep hitting and fielding like this and he's gonna get his $$$ sure enough.

    Cavs want Oden. I hope they're only offering minimum wage. I know it wasn't his fault, and I'm not a Trailblazers fan, but the extent of his multiple injuries was ridiculous. For some reason it burns me when first round picks bomb in any sport (unless they're on a team I hate ). While on the subject, reaches annoy me too.

    Sounds like the paper trail is pretty large and detailed, though. And sorry, but A-Rod is guilty until proven innocent after lying in the past about PEDs. Anyone who believed he only took them for 3 years was gullible.

    I agree, unless it said it's void if he takes PED, and I doubt it would. I would be disappointed if they could wriggle off the hook of the rest of that contract. As for A-Rod himself - washed up??

    We're not even through January and we already have the understatement of the year. Getting them to take Crawford and Beckett was an astounding piece of good fortune - we ran into a bunch of drunken sailors determined to throw money around with absolutely no common sense at just the right time. I am just gonna sit back and wait until the Dodgers' spending blows up in their faces, and then I am going to eat popcorn and lol at their stupidity.

    Giving out $100 mil+ contracts is what got us into the trouble that BC just got us out of with the LA deal.

    Or a new-found dislike for publishing a tell-all. I feel like those kinds of books should either be done by a third party, or at least after much more time has passed. Torre couldn't wait to get his jab in with The Yankees Years. Then there's the thought that maybe what happens in the clubhouse should stay in the clubhouse.

    Interesting thing about Gretzky is he's second to Orr in the "who is the best?" ELO Rater "game" at hockeyreference.com. This is where anyone can go on the website and it pulls up two players with their stats and the user selects which is better and it adds/subtracts points from the players' totals.

    I am failing to see the wisdom of placing more importance on baseball and football skills than general athletic skills which are tested to a higher level since the Olympics are competed for by athletes from the entire world, not just a small pool from a handful of countries at best.
