  1. Let the interleague record decide homefield, where the AL has won more games for the last 10+ year. The Stros moving to the AL will help out the NL in that regard though.
  2. Didn't we not play the Yankees last season in NY till July too? Also this interleague thing all-year is really going to affect Ortiz for away games.
  3. I would eliminate the all-star game completely. it's stupid and baseball takes 5-6 days off? 1 for the boring HR derby, another for a glorified exhibition game, and 3 days more. Just do away with it please and just let baseball finished earlier by a week.
  4. He is paid $16M. He will be in the rotation. Just hope for the best, maybe 12-15 wins from the horseface.
  5. if the issue isn't going to resolved, call the Twins about Morneau. He is due 14M and the Red Sox need to trade away some of its excess relievers who are out of options and a minor prospect like Jacobs. I remember the Red Sox offer to eat the entire Mauer 170M contract, but was told they won't trade him. Morneau has 1 year on the contract, which may be more feasible to deal for. Just get something done so Mauo Gomez isn't throwing hand grenades opening day from 1B.
  6. Sands and Pimentel were spare parts. Both has zero shot of starting here. You can only hope Hanrahan get his walks and HR/9 down.
  7. Another blunder in the making.
  8. The split is interesting. At least we know he is still capable of pitching 'ace' like. To win division, the team must go back to winning around 50 home games.
  9. 85 wins if we get a real closer.
  10. There's only a few stud SS. Getting .700 OPS out of it would make most clubs happy.
  11. They were trying to give Iggy a chance and cut into Aviles playing time, not because they didn't want him anymore. Just a shot in the dark, I think Iggy will be out of this organization within 2 year. He's been a waste of money and time.
  12. Where's jacko blow up the Yankees roster thread? They're getting back these guys plus they're 1 year older.
  13. It wasn't that long ago he was a 5.1 WAR player. Even half of that is a huge plus.
  14. If they were counted on as 1-2 yeah the team's in bad shape. Lester/Buchholz need to get back on track for this team to go anywhere.
  15. Lester had a similar start to his career like Doubront posting a high WHIP. Doubront did K a batter an inning, something Lester did not do until his 4th year in the majors. He needs to walk less to get that WHIP down and go deeper into games. Happs/Drabek are just fillers for the Jays while Doubront is expected to be one of the guys that will pitch around 200 innings. Obviously De La Rosa is not enough to fallback on. The teams will need to come up with at least 2 other options. If we want our own Happs, trade Bailey for Rick Porcello, both could use a change of scenery. The Dodgers have a few extra starters available as well.
  16. Doubront is quite easily better than them. He might be our #3 starter if Buchholz doesn't finally leap forward to give them 33 starts and 200IP. I'm tired of waiting. Doubront has a swing and miss fastball (unlike Lester/Buchholz), and excellent curveball. I expect him to be a breakout player. As for depth, De La Rosa is pretty solid.
  17. Garza. Maybe we'll do an Ellsbury as a centerpiece.
  18. Drabek is out with TJS. Happ sucks.
  19. Anything that hits above .200 is at SS.
  20. Yeah and like 80 games the year before too.
  21. Dempster is grossly overpaid. While McCarthy had great success vs teams from the AL East. You can't say the same with Dempster. I think he'll just be a .500 guy and while eating up over $13M.
  22. Dempster Diving $26M Why not Brandon McCarthy??
  23. It might be because he's 38 and had an elbow tear. If he had TJS, his career might be over as he will be 40 when he could pitch again.
  24. Looking at 2012 again, it cannot be said enough how bad the bullpen were with the 'late' inning option. Aceves blew 8 saves (by early August), and also had 10 losses to his credit. Melancon another stupid closer experience premise got demoted and end the season with an ERA over 6. Padilla blew a couple of big games too. And puff dough boy Andrew Bailey also blew a few and swell his ERAs to 7.04 If this were Bard/Papelbon as we knew, the team would be 10+ win better in 2012. Red Sox had two relievers that were good: Tazawa+ Acthison, both were #2 and #3 in the AL in ERA after Rodney.
  25. Unless they sign some 20M contract, they won't be hitting 189M for a while. Lackey, Ortiz are off the books after '14.
