    Wow they kept this thing a secret for 2 weeks. Anyway he is expected to do spring training about a week or two behind everyone. Bullet didn't hit any bone or major muscle. So he dodge the bullet there.

    Hearing Crawford might play opening day. I'm glad for him. Seems like a good player but wasn't a fit for us. Where he hits in the lineup is a constant struggles. He wasn't confident here. But thanks LA for taking that gigantic contract off our hands.

    Gomes OPSed around .950 vs LHP, in a division with a lot of LHP. What LF will fill the vacant LF on the team over Gomes? Daniel Nava? Who hits a buck eighty after July?

    Those bastards, Comcast has went up $5 for most digital starter and high tier pack starting this January. They did the same the previous year. $10 increase over 2 year is outrageous. I don't even watch 90% of the TV channels on my service plan. So essentially I'm paying $90 for a few channels I do watch regularly.

    Well from a talent stand point, no. There's too many fringe guys.

    We're a year+ away from Barnes being able to help this team. Yes there is no permanent replacement if Buchholz spent the entire 2013 on the DL. Beside the Rays and Braves, I don't think any team has depth for such fills in. Quality SP is the most difficult to develop. it's why there's only 1 or 2 that hits the market every 2-3 years and we're paying them in their 30s. Develop pitchers and have them in their 20s. I hate to have more Lackey/Dempters being 2/5 of the rotation. It may also be why Barnes is the most important prospect in the system. If he bust, we're screwed.

    Most of those guys will not take minors contracts. The depth is Webster and De La Rosa, if both could come up and make a few quality starts like Tazawa did (beating the Tigers and Yankees) from 2009, it's better than any reclamation projects. After many fail projects in recent years (Smoltz, Penny, Cook, etc) it just better to give the prospects a chance now they actually have the pieces. Doubront was injured a lot in between those years and wasn't able to plug in the necessary spot starts.

    Geez how quickly that team got built by scoring two of the best draft choices in a decade. There's other moves too, like acquiring Gonzalez. And Zimmermann emerging as one of the best pitcher.

    It was as bad as the rotation were. 2nd most blown saves in the league. Padilla, Melancon, Bailey and Aceves, none of them have ERA under 4.50

    he also smack 32 bombs while at it and lead the AL in OF assist, and play great defense. Bailey is demoted following another disastrous season and Sweeney is release. Miles Head looks like Anthony Rizzo jr in the minors without the defense. Great trade, Cherry.
