  1. I'm sorry if I want to see this team win another championship while its loaded with home grown players. The core 4 won't be around forever and Lackey/Beckett/Dice-k will decline towards the ends of their contracts. In 2011, the team's payroll drops 30 million dollars of payroll in dead weight alone. 2011 looks too good for them to keep waiting for Ted Williams to be reborn in Reddick's body.
  2. Lester got his groove back, Ellsbury got his first hit, and they got the win. I think its a good sign of things to come, with Tampa floundering.
  3. You can't put the winning run on 1st.
  4. It just clicked in my head. I'm no longer confidant seeing Papelbon pitching in high pressure situations, but Bard has done an incredible job today. If Papelbon can't beat the Yankees tonite, they're going to have to switch roles.
  5. If Bard throws 40 pitches tonite, I'm going to cry.
  6. How does signing Crawford hurt the team long term? And if you don't plan on signing a big free agent outfielder now, who will you sign in 2011 to replace Drew? There were two good outfield options for the Sox after 2009, and there are two more after 2010, but 2011 looks very weak. This team is not going to be able to fill its entire outfield from within, that's just unrealistic .What happens if Kalish doesn't pan out, and the outfield of Ellsbury/Drew/Cameron can't stay healthy? The Red Sox go into the 2012 season starting Ellsbury, Cody Ross and Ryan Ludwick?
  7. To the contrary. It seems like everyone is willing to declare this team dead in the water. The thing that no one is willing to admit, is that this team sent 4 other batters to the 2010 All-star game.
  8. BARD!!!! f*** that was a great inning.
  9. When the team looks at the off season, and asks "where can we improve?" they'll ignore the outfield because of money? That's ridiculous, they'll improve where they have problems, no matter what the contracts look like. Did it matter to them this offseason when they were paying 15 million to a third baseman already when they picked up Beltre?
  10. How the hell did Hughes manage a quality start out of that?
  11. I wasn't ignoring doubront, I just don't see him turning into anything above a major league average player. And the others Yaz pointed out aren't exactly hall of famers waiting to happen.
  12. Lester. I don't want the bullpen to lose this game.
  13. This pitch count is scaring me.
  14. Well, you're saying there are lots of trade chips on the team, and I can't think of any, and you didn't name any. The Sox are unlikely to trade Kelly, Kalish, or Iglesias, and I don't see them making a deal with any of their other pieces.
  15. Name one that will make a major league impact right now.
  16. So apparently no one wanted Hermida, and he's going to Pawtucket.
  17. Why do you keep ignoring the fact that Ellsbury is being used as a trade chip? They're going to need to get a first baseman, and I would far rather get rid of him than Casey Kelly. Is that unreasonable? In 2012, if the outfield has Kalish, Crawford and 25 extra million to spend from expiring outfield contracts, I don't see that as a problem, but an opportunity to improve.
  18. Well, tying this series would still be a bit of a loss, but if they can wear out the Yankee bullpen in the last game of the series, that's a win.
  19. Who has played the least games of that trio this season? Who of that trio has been reported to be in heavy trade talks? Who of that trio has had a lot of bad press implying that he's been a problem in the organization because of the misdiagnoses?
  20. I hope he makes Pavano look like a bargain. But I really wouldn't be surprised if A-rod goes on to win one more MVP.
  21. And he's got a hit!!!
