  1. I don't really understand how this process works. What's to stop the worst team in baseball from claiming all of the good players, like say Papelbon or Dunn, and nulling the value of waiver trades? Clearly the Sox/Nationals aren't going to lose the opportunity to get value/draft picks next year from these players if they do decide to trade them, so how do actual waiver trades get done?
  2. I sure hope Lester has been getting some sleep. And... why does Cash get preference over Lowell?
  3. I don't think I've ever been more excited for an A-rod home run! Now ESPN can stop obsessing over it!
  4. But they're still going to start him, that's not going to change.
  5. He's having an off year by his standards. The stats back that up. Why does this argument continue?
  6. Davis is not getting bumped. They like him too much.
  7. Not really-- corner infielders are supposed to hit better than that. He doesn't break the top 10 at RF for either category right now. Fun Fact -- Drews OPS is .809 with 12 HR. Bill Hall has an OPS of .786 with 12 HR.
  8. I'm thrilled, personally. The Celtics play a slow game anyway.
  9. His OBP is the lowest its been in eight years. His OPS is almost a hundred points lower than career averages, and he's a little low on home runs. Normally I like what JD Drew does, and how he plays, but when he's not getting on base, I stop turning a blind eye to his vertigo ********.
  10. Drew is having a s***** season. Its not fair to compliment him because all the other guys have been nonfactors. Darnell Mcdonald has meant more to this team this year than Drew. That being said, I think Ellsbury gets traded, and the outfield will probably be Drew/Crawford/Cameron/Kalish.
  11. I just want to point out that his wife had their first child this week. As much as I love watching Lester pitch, he's been off lately, and I think its very reasonable to assume it has been because of that.
  12. How is he more likely to injure himself in Boston than Pawtucket? He's still playing 9 innings, same position, same number of at bats... its not like he's DHing.
  13. We lost a game last night 6-5. Our starting center fielder went 0-2 with two strikeouts in said game. Yes, there is pressure to rush Ellsbury back, when he's doing fine in Pawtucket and absolutely killing the ball there.
  14. Based on that, I don't need medical reports to tell me he should get ass back to Boston. When you're hitting near .700 and making spectacular plays in the outfield, there is zero reason for Patterson to be starting centerfield, zero. Play for your damn team, or say hello to San Diego.
  15. Its starting to become clear that he's having problems with the organization. I read one article that compared him to Nomar-- when key players spend their time sitting on the bench because of conflicts, the organization has no desire to keep them around.
  16. Ellsbury was the Sox #1 prospect at a time... and then he actually turned into what prospects are supposed to turn into-- a good player. Prospects might work out, but they might not. Smoak's value went way down before he got to Seattle. He's hitting .159 in Seattle-- top prospect potential I know. That's why its always better to go with a sure thing. Or, Ellsbury can go to another team for more prospects, whatever. And leverage really doesn't have much to do with it. Teams know when the ship is going down, and they must know their pitching staff won't all have career years again. Plus, the Giants/Dodgers/Rockies are not going to make it easy for them. Plus, most of the big market teams already have a great first baseman, so there aren't as many buyers as one might expect. If they think they'd rather have a first round draft pick than a package, then they can take it. And Lars has only been to AAA once. His July was a great sign, and I think its just a matter of time. But if Hoyer wants Rizzo instead, they can have him. Two years of A-gon gave the Padres a window, but eventually they'll need to get what they can.
  17. So Lebron put an ad in a newspaper thanking the city of Akron for everything they did to him. Cleveland is mysteriously absent for the article. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5433205 Serves Cleveland right for being such dicks about the whole situation. Seriously, I understand you're hurt, but the man gave several years of his life to them, and the whole city hates him in unison because he wants to win.
  18. Tim Bogar's 2010 statistics WAR -5.0
  19. Ellsbury may be part of a 3 team trade-- he doesn't necessarily go to the Padres. I don't agree how Lars's ceiling is arguable-- he is a very streaky player, and he's shown that in AAA this year. Compare the haul's for other top players at a position, like Cliff Lee, Halladay, even Nomar, Martinez or Santana. Santana's deal seems to most relevant-- based on a prospect ranking, they gave up organizational #s 1, 5, 6, and 10-- sounds about like what I've been projecting, although I may value certain players more than others.
  20. Well duh. Its pretty obvious Lowell starts at 1B tomorrow.
  21. Bogar does it again. Why the f*** is he still here?
