  1. AKA, steamrolled by the team who goes to the finals.
  2. The East is incredibly thin right now. We seem to be see the same old story in the playoffs for the Celtics... they go deep on veteran experience, but end up being steamrolled by one of the teams that goes to the Finals.
  3. Nope, but trading three potential all-stars, and mortgaging your entire team's future on one player will.
  4. That's an old quote-- he reconsidered it quickly after his agent talked him out of it.
  5. For all the claims that Cano has been the best 2B in baseball, its about time they payed him that way.
  6. In all fairness, I wanted them both. I suppose that would. It was really just an expression.
  7. I don't think there is anything that would make me happier than to see Bard prove his naysayers wrong. Especially those throwing around nonsense like "His career is over".
  8. And for the next five years, you'd be doing what the Angels did with him last year... watching the playoffs on a bigscreen at home.
  9. One for one, sure it makes sense. But if you throw in Bogaertz or Bradley to make it happen, why bother?
  10. And in a non crucial defensive position. MLB Trade rumors had a blurb about Cano the other day. He wants a top 5 contract. The Yankees want to give him a top 20 contract. I would not be surprised if it took 200 mill to sign him.
  11. If the Red Sox make a high-risk mega-trade with a high value trade chip like Middlebrooks, it needs to be for an ace. Trading for Trout or Stanton doesn't fix this team's problems.
  12. Don't care, need pitching. I left him off my initial list because he has an insane contract, and isn't going anywhere.
  13. Middlebrooks is far too valuable to be traded. Right now, I wouldn't move him for anyone not named Verlander, Weaver, Price, or Kershaw.

  15. They've suspended Aceves in the past, and I don't think they'll shy away from that in the future. Next time he acts up, he'll probably get a 3 game suspension.
  16. So does that mean you're playing this year?
  17. Oh, so this is a harmless pickup then. I'm surprised they hadn't done that already-- they had run very low on spots last time I heard. Let's just hope that moving out of Seattle will do Carp some good.
  18. He's probably not worth the player they DFA to make room for him. Let's just hope the outfield stays healthy this year.
  19. I definitely want to redeem myself this year. It seems like my entire team is always hurt or underperforming. Maybe I'll draft more Yankees this year.
  20. I understand when good players expected people to bend over backwards for them, but I don't understand it when mediocre players like Aceves get upset about losing opportunities. Someone hand him a stat sheet.
  21. Sox Fan on Cape usually does these, but he's been MIA. I just sent him a quick e-mail. I definitely need to redeem myself after last year's fiasco.
  22. Aceves is a strange case. The Red Sox have gone through every single malcontent on the team. Beckett, Shoppach, Agon, Crawford, Valentine, and to a lessor extent Youk. They've revamped the medical staff, and the coaching staff. But for some strange reason, Aceves is still hanging around.
  23. They have a few solid players, but their roster is pretty a pile of role players, and I don't think that's a sustainable strategy. They also lost several players in free agency. The A's are pretty muchbuilt on their ballpark... which makes their mediocre pitchers look solid. Look at the top two guys on their depth chart. Tommy -- 2.74 Home/ 4.83 Away ERA Milone 2.61 Home/ 4.54 Away ERA Their closer: Balfour-- 1.06 Home/ 4.45 Away ERA Former ace Gio Gonzalez's year in 2011: 2.70 Home /3.62 Away ERA. Still very good, but definitely influenced by the park. Not that any of that is all that relevant to the discussion at hand, I'm just getting stir-crazy for baseball.
  24. He's an ideal player in a platoon situation. Everyone talking about him within the organization makes me feel very concerned that they actually see him to be more than that role.
  25. The reports I've heard about Middlebrooks say that he'll probably be a solid defensive 3B. You're essentially moving the offensive value of a SS to 1B. Maybe we'll see a decline in big bodied sluggers who get stuck in the 1B spot, but in years past they're relatively easy to pick up on the free agent market, and I'd argue it wouldn't be the best use of talent to move WM.
