  1. The Red Sox were 0-9 with RISP yesterday, and so far are 0-2 today. Yeesh.
  2. Wow, since when was MLB Network available on basic cable? Sweet.
  3. Is this not on ESPN?
  4. http://www.talksox.com/forum/general-baseball-forum/17385-2013-mlb-draft.html
  5. Can we talk about how rjortiz jinxed the mojo yesterday? I could have sworn that warranted a permanent ban doesn't it?
  6. We see it every year. All it takes is one desperate team. With the extra wild card spots, players will continue to sell for a premium at the deadline.
  7. Three more after this one. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/national-league/miami-marlins/
  8. Remember the Bedard trade a few years back? That's the kind of acquisition Marcum would be. Low risk, potentially capable of eating innings. He was hurt at the beginning of the year, but he's looked much better over the last 4 starts-- 4.10 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 9 K/9. SSS. I'd rather give up a Jose Vinicio for Marcum than a Jackie Bradley for Garza.
  9. I hear that Franklin Morales guy is pretty good. What do you think it would take for him to pitch every 5 days for the Sox? Honestly, there will be plenty of guys available, but I doubt any of them are going to be worth the cost. Gallardo, Price, Lee will be insanely expensive. The next tier is Ervin Santana, Ian Kennedy, Danks. The one guy I'd want to keep an eye on is Marcum. Health issues have been a problem for him, and the Mets are going to be sellers. He might not cost much.
  10. We've seen top players with 1.5 - 2 years of control left generally command two top 100 prospects + 1. The plus one is usually a high-ceiling low-floor type like a Fuentes or Bryan Price. But when it comes to young, potentially HOF bound players with 3-4 years of control is left, we almost never see those guys get traded -- the only example that comes to mind is when the Red Sox told Seattle to "pick any 5" for Felix. A Stanton trade would have to be similar to that.
  11. Much appreciated. Apparently Peavy makes a fool of me, and my fantasy team this week. Ouch
  12. I made those posts before I saw he had gone 2.1 with 6 ER and was heading to the MRI. At the time his ERA was around 3.63.
  13. Nelson Cruz of the Rangers, Colon of the Athletics, Cano, A-rod and Cervelli of the Yanks. Cabrera of the Jays. Peralta of the Tigers. If all these guys get suspended, it impacts all those teams and clears an open path for the Red Sox to the playoffs.
  14. Murphey with a shutout inning. Wow.
  15. Come on Papi, crush it for history.
  16. "I've never seen someone get so upset in a 17-5 game before" -- Eck
  17. Carp struck out. Ouch.
  18. 75 MPH fastball from the Ranger's LF. Wow, they better score here.
  19. Dempster with 7 quality innings, leaving the game winnable by guys like Mortensen and Miller to close it out.
  20. After an exchange like this, can you really say that Don and Eck don't have great chemistry
  21. Yep, already deleted the last post:dunno:
  22. This game is ridiculous. Eck is having a panic attack
  23. The White Sox are 6 games back on the division right now. They also have one of the worst farm systems in the major leagues. The motive is there, but I don't think the Red Sox are going to be willing to give enough for them.
  24. In all fairness, name a better Red Sox player to come out of the farm in the last 5 years.
  25. 2011. For some reason I remember him hitting more of them:lol:
