  1. He's a righthander with a 89 mph fastball. I'm far more concerned about his results over the last 5 years.
  2. Find me a pitcher who 1) Has middle-to-top of the rotation potential 2) Makes a low salary. 3) Is only under team control till the end of the year, and won't get a QO from his team. 4) Is pitching for a non-contending team willing to trade him for a reasonable cost. 5) Had success in the AL East. He doesn't have much company. Best case scenario, you snag him for a prospect with a future of warming a good team's bench, and he performs better than Doubront. Worst case scenario, he sucks or gets hurt and you dump him.
  3. Still thinking about Shawn Marcum for the rotation. He went 8 innings, with 1 ER last time out. Keep an eye on tonight's start. He isn't under his team's control, won't get a qualifying offer, has had serious injury problems.... but also has seen seasons of 3-ish ERAs in the AL East, and appears to be finally healthy for NYM. Seems like a very good buy-low candidate.
  4. Drew? Middlebrooks made a crucial error, and had another bad defensive play. He's 3 for 25 in his last 6 games, and one was a broken bat, and the other was a dropped ball that wasn't called an error. He has 8 walks to 59 strikeouts this season. The guy needs more time to work on his approach. It is what it is.
  5. The Sox are absolutely battling with Darren O'Day. Two very lengthy ABs so far.
  6. Its games like these that make me completely baffled that somehow the Red Sox's bullpen survived games where Dice-k or some other hack went 2, 3, or 4 innings in a game.
  7. ELLSBURY BEATS IT OUT! GAME TIED!
  8. I'm perfectly okay with sac flies with 0 outs. Ellsbury will get us some more.
  9. Middlebrooks is killing this team right now. Two errors on the night, and hitting .199. Send him back to AAA so he can work on getting himself together.
  10. Hard to argue with that result. 18 innings, bullpen crushing game between the Yanks, and a team who will probably be in the wildcard chase.
  11. I just realized Chris Davis already has 21 HRs. Insane.
  12. Its hard not to like an umpire who can admit when he's wrong. He's probably one of a select few.
  13. Major mistake by the Orioles. Giving up a free double with one out? Would love to see them take advantage.
  14. And his strikeout numbers are still better than Napoli's:joke:
  15. It looked like Gausman was going to put this game away. Then Papi and Carp crush it. The real question... is Carp for real? Maybe not 1000 OPS, but 800?
  16. I would love to see these teams go another 5-6 innings, and Oakland finally get 1 run in the 20th.
  17. If it was 2011, the Red Sox would have squeaked into the second wildcard slot. Just saying
  18. While I would be disappointed if the Sox don't take the division, I think there is a pretty good chance they take one of the Wild card spots. With Buchholz getting worn down, and Lester in a rut, I have concerns with the top of the rotation. I don't know about anyone else, but I've been pleasantly surprised about what the system's depth has given us for production -- Carp, Wilson, Aceves, Iggy, Bradley and even Jose la Torre have all contributed in big ways. Still, I'm doubtful that they will be able to hold off the Yankees once they've got a real lineup again.
  19. I spent my night in a sports bar in Boston with 50 televisions, and 0 of them showing the Red Sox... huddled over an iphone hoping that the Sox sneak this one out. Very happy with the results. Aceves gave up 1 run to the next-best offense in the majors, Nava hit the game-winner and the bullpen was shut-down. The Rays are now 5 games back on the division, and the Yanks look like they might be 3 down in about an hour. Oh, and the Red Sox are firmly in 1st in the AL. Loving the Sox this season.
  20. The Spurs humiliated the Heat. Hope that happens a couple more times this series.
  21. Look on the bright side fellas, they got through the game with only two pitchers used. The pen is officially rested, and the Red Sox are going to spank the Rays tomorrow.
  22. After watching 14 innings of baseball yesterday, 9 Sunday, and 18 Saturday, I think I'm going to take a break tonight.
  23. Two late time calls in four pitches, both allowed by the umpire. What a great use of pitches for a team that went 14 innings yesterday. #fireThemAll.
