  1. If Bartolo Colon was a poster on Talksox, I would have been banned years ago for the horrible things I say about him. I hope the guy is so far banned from baseball that they won't let him go to his grandson's t-ball game.
  2. Fortunately the Rays have one bitch of a September. They have their West Coast road trip at the end of August, play a pile of AL East teams, as well as 4 games against Texas. Yeesh. Also, they have exactly 1 day off in the month of September -- in a span of 37 days at the end of the season, they play 36 games. The only day off they get is a travel day. They go from opposite ends of the country... Seattle to Tampa.
  3. Webster stats haven't looked like a pro player, even against Seattle's 4A lineup. What has been up with him?
  4. Napoli really needs to get a hit here...
  5. I just looked up your stat sheet. If your mojo doesn't prevail, you'll be 8-14 over your Talksox career. I think it might be time.
  6. Another very good start for John Lackey. Hopefully the Sox can do some damage this inning.
  7. Lackey cruising through this lineup.
  8. 5 outs, 41 pitches against a premier pitcher. I said this yesterday, but this offense must obliterate bullpens for days after the Sox leave town.
  9. Lavarnway with a 7 game hitting streak in the majors.
  10. Unfortunately, that won't be the case. If the Phillies would take Drake Britton for him, it would probably be worth it. But if it takes Webster, that'll be a rough trade.
  11. New nickname idea: Alex the Ass?
  12. Victorino looked foolish on that at bat.
  13. Bullpens must hate having to play the Red Sox. I can't remember a team who could get a starter out of the game in the 4th/5th innings this consistently. It seems to happen three to four times a week.
  14. Bourn's defensive stats are significantly better defender than Ellsbury, but besides that your points are spot on. The other factor was that there were such a large number of outfielders available last year, and many of them were quality center fielders. Victorino, Bourn, Upton, Revere, Pagan, Choo was traded as a CF, and even Drew Stubbs has given a solid WAR. That's a lot of options. With Choo likely moving back to a corner, and Granderson probably taking a pillow contract, Ellsbury will be the premier CF.
  15. 2014 will be a terrible time to sign free agents, IMO. Every team in baseball will get a pile of money from new MLB tv contracts in 2014, so every team will have more to spend. The luxury tax is also going up 10+ million. We've also seen more teams go gung-ho with trades and FA signings because of the second wild card. I think external factors may push Ellsbury up into the 100 million range.
  16. Man, the Red Sox STILL not getting a clutch hit there. Glad to see Vic taking advantage of his good baserunning skills.
  17. Damn. Well, atleast that's probably the night for Wilson.
  18. I posted this in another thread, but he is on pace to crush his 2B and RBI records.
  19. Just to be clear, I was in no way advocating that the Red Sox go out and get Gallardo. I just think he will cost more in the trade market.
  20. Victorino is really bad at dealing with balls hit near walls. How many times has he banged up his ribs, head, back against walls, and how many wall ball catches has he missed? It seems like it happens almost every game. Don't get me wrong, he's exceptional defensively, it just happens to be his achilles heel.
  21. With the Orioles facing off against the Yanks this series, winning this series will be big for picking up games on the division.
  22. With all the big players trying to form power teams... Dwight chooses a team of nobodies. Interesting. Did he mention what his favorite kind of cupcake was?
  23. Doubront has really drawn the short straw lately. He's pitching against LAA tonight, and the last five games he's thrown against Detroit, Tampa, Toronto, Baltimore and another game against LAA. That's an incredibly tough group of teams to pitch against in consecutive starts-- hopefully he can take the experience from those games and blow it by some of the weaker teams coming up in the schedule.
  24. The last four seasons he's had 180-200 innings, 200+ strikeouts, and an ERA in the mid 3s. He's a pitcher who has been consistently healthy, and is signed for two and a half more years at a very affordable price. I certainly think that he is worth more than half a year of Garza.
  25. Hold up, that isn't an ipad issue. When I was using that other account, it wouldn't let me upload a avatar on PC, but I had no problem with this account. Maybe there is a post-number restriction set for that?
