  1. Yankees signed Freiter Marte for 100K http://www.dplbaseball.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=180:six-more-dpl-players-signed-to-play-professionally&catid=1:latest-news
  2. WTF! Is he saying Montero, Betances, Gardner, Joba, Mitre and two prospects for Danks and taking Quentins and Teahren's contracts?
  3. Cause it's Kenny Williams... Floyd yes. Danks no. I wouldn't want Flyod, I'd rather have Jackson over him myself.
  4. Anyone have any info on the 2011 IFA class? Last year seemed kind of meh and it was suppose to be pretty deep.
  5. he was going to get paid a boatload either way. Still three more years until he hits f/a I'll enjoy him while I can.
  6. the Red Sox could too... if Beckett doesn't come back strong and Dic-K gets his usual DL spot.
  7. end of July
  8. What'da going do? Ball didn't bounce our way this off season. We still have one of the best teams in the AL and probably third best overall team. I'm still excited about the season and our chances.
  9. Yankees traded for Maxwell, absolutely love the move. I know it won't be a huge impact but Maxwell still has a nice ceiling and could be a very nice fourth OF option. Has a ton of speed too!
  10. Well he did lose 35 lbs this off season, can't wait to see what he looks like. His goal was 50 but I haven't heard an update since the start of the year.
  11. If we resign Pettitte... I really like our team. Not really excited about the Garcia signing, but hey if it works out it's 1.5 million and if it really works out we got lightning in a bottle for 5 million. CC, Hughes, Pettitte, AJ and Nova/Garcia/Noesi isn't that bad.
  12. Also it's Pineda. Most lists are based on projections. This is why Nava won't be on anyone's top 50, 100 or even 500 prospects list.
  13. 1. Bryce Harper, Nationals 2. Mike Trout, Angels 3. Jesus Montero, Yankees 4. Dom Brown, Phillies 5. Jeremy Hellickson, Rays 6. Julio Teheran, Braves 7. Eric Hosmer, Royals 8. 14. Really? I keep hearing Betances will be a front line starter and Banuelos will be in the bullpen. Not that I agree, but thats just from what I've heard thrown about. Betances has dominant stuff and he's got the size. It's not like he's a two pitch pitcher either. Warren, IMO is something in between a front line and a backend of the roto pitcher aka a No. 3 starter. I don't see that term get thrown around these days but with that increased velo yeah... I'm liking him more and more.
  15. Four-Star Prospects 1. Jose Iglesias, SS 2. Anthony Ranaudo, RHP Three-Star Prospects 3. Josh Reddick, OF 4. Drake Britton, LHP 5. Kolbin Vitek, 3B 6. Brandon Workman, RHP 7. Yamaico Navarro, INF 8. Felix Doubront, LHP 9. Oscar Tejeda, 2B 10. Stolmy Pimentel, RHP 11. Will Middlebrooks, 3B Nine More: 12. Garin Cecchini, 3B: This fourth-rounder received a first-round bonus and can hit, but his bat is what will have to carry him. 13. Lars Anderson, 1B: There are still some things to like here, but the actual on-field performance has to return. 14. Bryce Brentz, OF: He packs a lot of power in a smaller package, but his huge swing was exposed as pro. 15. Ryan Lavarnway, C: An offense-oriented catcher, Lavarnway still has work to do behind the plate. 16. Sean Coyle, INF: As a 5-foot-8 second baseman with crazy-good bat speed, the unfair Pedroia comps are inevitable. 17. Kendrick Perkins, OF: This sixth-round pick has excellent athleticism, but he's very, very far from being a baseball player. 18. Jeremy Hazelbaker, OF: Hazelbaker showed power and speed at Low-A, but he was old for the level and had lots of swing-and-miss in his stroke. 19. Luis Exposito, C: He's solid across the board at a position where that's a virtue, but nothing stands out. 20. Che-Hsuan Lin, CF: A crazy-great fielder who can walk, it's easy to imagine his future as a bench outfielder. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=12796 I can admit I like some Red Sox prospects, but Josh Reddick is not one of them. For some reason I hate him. I can't fathom how he still gets high ratings. Is the Sox system really that weak?
  16. Manuel ejaculated while writing Marshall's scouting report. I really like him, but I wouldn't say he's in Betances or Banuelos company. I think you'll see him in the top 5 next year though. DePaula in the top 10. I'd love to see Marshall dominate High A out of the gate and hold him there until June then send him to Double-A and finish the year there. DJ Mitchell is listed as a RP too... From the 2010 draft here's how our draftees ranked. 15th Williams 21 Culver 25 Gumbs 28 Kahnle 29 Whitley They were really high on our class too, so it's impressive to see the depth in the system.
  17. BA seems to think we've been slightly better drafters than the Sox in recent years as well. Our grades have been 09 C+, 08 C+, 07 B and 06 B+. While the Sox got grades of 09 C, 08 B, 07 C+ and 06 B+.
  18. Nunez is too high for me as well. Can't complain about DePaula or Romero, as I said they didn't have any 2010 IFA listed for other teams. They must of started a wait and see approach with them.
