  1. Stats are real, you not responding with stats or addressing the stats, then saying you know they're as good as each other is just ignorant to, you know, reality. You're copping out with butthurt, and I take that as being as good admission of dipshittery. Walk on home boy.
  2. The Paps for Madson thing is ridiculous and makes no sense. Pay slightly more for the guy who's been the elite closer since he's come into the league. Madson is not even close to a sure thing, Paps is a sure thing to be the better closer.
  3. Yet they didn't stop the Heat from building their dream team. It might be for the better though, simply because the balance of power would basically be in the hands of a couple of super teams. I don't really watch like I used to, the amount of super teams out there is ridiculous. I remember when there were 10 teams that could all beat each other at any time. Now it's just 2, 3, maybe 4 teams that have a shot at the title really.
  4. I agree, even though I hate the idea of the Lakers gearing up. That's BS that the owners are bitching because of a f***ing trade. It's ridiculous, the Lakers get some cap room and an elite guard, while the Hornets got possibly the better overall impact playerwise, and improved their front court significantly. How is it that a win-win deal is struck down, because the salary cap and Howard issue I guess. Ridiculous.
  5. Did you read the posts/stats at all? A-Rod gets a positional value boost over Pujols and still loses out by a good deal. Offensively, A-Rod's best year is what Pujols has done for the last 10 years on average. Pujols is vastly superior offensively than A-Rod, and significantly better overall. All stats support my argument. So are you ready to admit you're wrong, or are you going to just put on your troll persona to try to play off the butthurt? His 'roid usage is actually irrelevant, I brought it up for shits, but since we're on it.... Pujols is superior with or without the 'roids, the stats are significantly in his favor, and we can't make assumptions. I said as far as we know he's clean, if it turns out he's been on the 'roids, he's still better. Every metric shows he's better, and I like Palo's point, his position at 1B while hindering his value could definitely help him to play more effectively for longer. I agree that no contract to someone in their 30s for 10 years could be a good idea, but he's better than Rodriguez, and he could easily put up enough numbers in the first 3-5 years to counter the last stretch. This is all assuming he does have a big regression. He's one of the best offensive talents of all time as it stands. @SCM I agree, he could be a steroid user, but I wasn't using the 'roid crap for the sake of argument vs. Rodriguez.
  6. A live one who bitchslaps you on a regular basis. You must be into that hardcore S&M s*** to keep coming back for more beatings. I just assumed that when you stopped posting you came to the conclusion that everyone hates you or that you got embarrassed by the last time I had to strap it on and put you in your place, so you decided to vanish.
  7. Good old Reck, not knowing his limitations and that think's he's a colossal douchecock. I know you like me and everything but boys usually stop being ass nuggets to try getting women when they're like 12. Sorry Recky.
  8. Kobe, Paul and Howard would be absolutely heartbreaking.
  9. Nooooo, I loved Chris Paul. He's awesome, I remember watching him tear it up at Wake Forest. Why's he gotta be a Laker.
  10. That's just not the right way to look at it. Pujols' offense is so much more over the top than A-Rod's. Pujols is also an elite-fielding first baseman, like I said Rodriguez hasn't been good in the field for a while now, and he plays 3B, has for 10 years almost now. Rodriguez is going to be a DH for most of the rest of his career, and Pujols doesn't look like he's going to be slowing down at 1B. I don't care what position they play, the difference between the two offensively is pretty wide. You're being way too simple-minded when you call them both "big hitting", it distorts the truth, which is A-Rod's a once per generation talent who as far as we know cheated to get to that point. Pujols is a once in the history of baseball level talent who's production rivals the Splinter and the Bambino who as far as we know is legit. If he gets caught, he's still a better offensive talent, and as far as 'roid users go, Bonds puts them all to shame.
  11. He has two rings with the Cards.
  12. WAR accounts for everything, and Pujols is the better player, and as far as we know didn't/doesn't use steroids. Pujols is an elite fielding 1B on top of superior hitting, A-Rod was a good SS once upon a time, and a good base runner, but he stopped being both about 10 years ago almost now. Better "all around" is a very tricky word to use. Willie Mays might be the best all around player of all time, but I think a lot of people consider Williams or Ruth the best, and A-Rod isn't even close to as all around good as Mays was (supposedly, since most of us didn't see him play). Maybe Mays is the greatest of all time, but like I said A-Rod will never be considered as all-around as Mays.
  13. That's a cool way to spin it, but there's two things with that: 1. You're underplaying the value of .6 WAR over the course of 10 years. 2. A-Rod's WAR was extremely inconsistent, yet Pujols had the better career-high WAR out of the two, all the while pretty much staying at a consistent 7-9 WAR every year. A-Rod had lower highs and more frequent lows.
  14. Please stop yourself. It's not even close dude.
  15. A-Rod was not even close to what Pujols was. A-Rod was a roller coaster who could put up a 1.100 OPS one year then follow up with a .800-.900 OPS year. I think it's always bad to sign a guy in his 30s to a 10 year deal, but this isn't A-Rod, this is a guy who legitimately has a chance to retire the best clean offensive player of all time, and he's probably the best hitter any of us who didn't see Ted Williams, like Spudboy or a700, will get to see. Pujols is absolutely better than A-Rod at his best. An off year for him is .300 with 30 homers and 100 RBIs right now. I could definitely see it going bad when he gets into his late 30s, but lets not group him in with A-Rod as a sure bet for a terrible contract yet. This guy's a monster.
  16. When your team spends big, it's so fun. Those Marlins fans must be going nuts after this kind of a splash.
  17. Daaaamn, the Angels might be competitive again very soon with this rotation.
  18. Excellent fit with the Sox too, he'd be an excellent fit pretty much everywhere, just because he's going to put down the same numbers, obviously adjusted for league/ballpark changes, as he did for the last 10 years. The Marlins got a pretty formidable starting rotation if JJ can be 100% for a full season.
  19. Is the new stadium supposed to be a pitchers park? Even better then.
  20. I like this a lot. He's put up the same numbers pretty much every year, he almost never misses starts, and he's got a style that translates well into his later career imo.
  21. This could also help them land one of the big sluggers, seeing them gearing up. Looks like the Marlins are going hard, I like it. If Hanley turned it around and JJ stays healthy, they would be legit contenders already IMO. On top of that, what if they did land Pujols? It could play a significant role in landing him, of course they'd have to put some serious cash on the table, I heard something like they offered him a 9 year deal, can't remember the salary but still, that could be a team to watch out for even if they don't get Pujols or Fielder or whatever. They should make those jerseys and the new logo less gay though. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing that crap
