    And as you said in the other thread, he plays a position that can allow him to play for a long time, and now that he's in the AL, he could even DH if it gets to that point. Pujols is sitting pretty with absolutely 0 sign of real decline. I'd love to have a guy who hits for well over 1.000 in the post season and is declining. Would love to have a guy who's got a 1.000 OPS for most of the season and is declining. Thank you for looking at the splits, I would've missed that, and that's actually pretty significant. I don't think Pujols is going to start the year with two straight under .800 OPS months. Even if he didn't put up classic Pujols numbers from June on up through the playoffs, there's still nothing even close to suggesting he's on the decline. I cannot express how silly that sounds.

    Ugh, it's because the Celtics are so poorly run now. They invested their everything into the big three, three aging dudes, and never really had a backup plan for when they would decline and such. Now they're just... I dunno, it's really frustrating, I've grown to love this team too. Why do all my teams suck!!!

    You don't think they'd change their minds, if that is their mindset, if the Sox brought someone like Ells to the table? If they just want prospects to rebuild with, yeah the Sox would be in about last though, that I would definitely agree with. Eh, the Sox don't need Felix though IMO. I'd rather have Ellsbury tbh. I like position players a lot more than pitchers.

    (lol you didn't even read anything I posted) Sorry, Pujols is the best hitter on the planet until he's dethroned. This has not happened yet. He's had one off year and he's still better than your boyfriend A-Rod. Just because I talk Pujols up in one thread, then in another, does not make my argument any less valid. If you can't make a rational argument, well, then I think it's best if you let the grown-ups talk.     Yeah dude, the Yankees got the chips fo sho. I love how Meh thinks the Yankees got the everything on lock, s*** they do, but not in trades for "untouchable" talent like Felix. I think you should stop to gather your thoughts for a second. What package could the Yanks give up that could beat a guy who atm has ridiculous stock like Ellsbury. Some more of those overrated Yankee pitching prospects who never pan out? I'm pretty sure Ellsbury as a centerpiece to a trade gives the Sox an advantage over almost any team. Ellsbury put up stats that make FOs fap. 9.4 WAR last season, that's more than Joe Mauer in 2009. His trade stock right now is through the roof dude, you're delusional if you don't think the Sox could blow any other deal out of the water if they offered Ellsbury.

    "Pujols is the most proven product in baseball". Prove me wrong. He's the surest bet to win MVP every year. It's not the name at all, it's the numbers. Find me one player since Ted Williams not named Barry Bonds who's been as overpowering as Pujols from his rookie season through right now. You find me one guy, I will concede that Pujols is not the safest bet to have an MVP this year, or next year, or the year after until it's obvious he's on the decline. He will be the favorite to MVP, to be the best offensive player in baseball, etc. There's usually no consensus best hitter of any era, there are only three guys who are that: Ruth, Williams, Pujols.

    It's getting to the point where anyone who has a couple of huge years is going to be considered as safe an MVP candidate who is one of the most valuable players in the league during an "off year". Jose Bautista is as old as Pujols, and has only been even close to him offensively for the last two season's. Pujols was the better player in 2010, Bautista in 2011. Bautista has been the best hitter for the last two years, but Pujols is the most proven product in baseball.

    They could fight, but how the hell does Pujols not get the favorite title here? I think that's very easy, yeah someone could put up as good or better OPS, but Pujols is the safest pick to win MVP every year. It's because he's been the most valuable player in baseball practically every year he's played. He's just the safest pick here, that's my point, not that no one else has a chance to compete for the award for best hitter. Technically, some guy who you'd never expect could have a monster year, so I'm not saying he's a lock.

    It's all about OPS, and Pujols has had the best OPS in baseball since coming into the league. How is he not favored over some guy who's had 1.000 OPS once in his career. I think it's pretty ridiculous you can favor any hitter over Pujols.

    Easily. Easily. I'd take Pujols over Bautista eight days a week. Bautista produced Pujols' career averages pretty much last year. Pujols had an off year, and it was almost as productive as Bautista's previous season where he hit 50 homers. Pujols is the favorite at all times anywhere offensively. He is the best hitter since Ted Williams unless you include Bonds.

    I like that idea to get CP3 a lot. He's been my second favorite player after KG since he came into the league. KG's still my favorite athlete of all time though.

    I remember when O'Neal was a beast with Indy. The great PFs were in heavy supply in the early-mid 2000s.

    Pretty sure he's the favorite for offense at any position, and definitely a favorite for 1B defensively, so both.

    PFs who can't get rebounds are really frustrating, I'm not for this trade at all. At least he scores I guess, just not really good enough IMO.

    Bummer to see these people go down, you always hope they don't get caught but you keep the idea of them being on PEDs open in your mind. My opinion on steroids is sort of changing all the time. Part of me feels like it's just taking advantage of what's out there to get an edge. The other half realizes it's not fair to those who didn't use PEDs. About a year ago I would've said PEDs are just bad, I still sort of lose my respect for numbers inflated by PEDs, but I try to keep an open mind about it. I'd say I lean towards still being against it, but I've heard some pretty convincing arguments.

    LOL IKR. 2010 leads league in HR with 42, hits .312 with 1.011 OPS, won the GG, and came in second place in MVP. I guess when you're that good, when your OPS is only a little above 1.000, you're on the decline. This was the worst year of his career and he still had 37 homers and .906 OPS. For the first time ever he hit under .300 and drove in under 100 runs.... 99 RBI, .299 average LOL. He was also a monster in the postseason this year, 2 HR with 1.469 OPS vs the Brewers, 3 HR with 1.064 OPS vs. the Rangers. His career playoff OPS is 1.046. Alex Rodriguez's lifetime postseason OPS is .884.
