  1. Now you're putting words in MY mouth. I never said that anyone said there wasn't, but it was something that was being overlooked.
  2. That there is potential in Indiana.
  3. Historically they have been, so while his point was incorrect, there was a point that came to light from him stating that.
  4. Notice in 03-04 they were Eastern Conference runner-ups, the best record in basketball, and in 04-05 they took a huge hit, and were painted to be a bunch of thugs after the brawl. They lost one of their best players for the entire season, and other key contributors for many more. Jermaine O'Neal has never been the same since that year, and isn't even with the team anymore. They've receded in talent immensely, and I think given a chance to have a draft of the players on the eliminated teams, would probably increase competitiveness, and result in an increase in attendance. Name me one big-name player in Indiana during 2004 to now? Jermaine O'Neal was it, really.
  5. Sure, but they used to be a huge draw, and they ended because if you'd check, 2004-05 they fell off the planet after being a 62-win team, and the best record in basketball, and Eastern Conference runner-ups. Not to mention the PR hit they took with all of their players getting suspended for the Malace At The Palace. The Pacers have always sold pretty well, and the state of Indiana has a very big basketball following. This too, is fact. Like I said, potential is potential.
  6. This is what I'm saying, though, Span is just quite a bit better at the plate than Ellsbury. He gets on base at a near .400 rate, which is very good. If he could improve on his power just a little bit, he would be a monster. Span was originally supposed to be the next in our line of CF excellence, it's something that our organization has made a note of. Gomez nearly ruined that, though.
  7. I think eliminating teams is a good idea, because back in the day, the talent was condensed into a smaller amount of teams, rather than spread waaayyy too thin, as it is right now.
  8. I think they were referring to the professional level, but you're absolutely right, and this only proves that there's a lot of potential for the Pacers to be huge again given the talent to compete. Eliminating other squads would help to make this happen.
  9. No words were put in anyone's mouth, it was an assumption based on what I thought was inferred. If that's not the case, then that's fine too, it's not a big deal. I apologize for reaching so much.
  10. This is the truth right here.
  11. Bingo, this is what I said on the last page, and which I followed up on. The Pacers used to be a huge attraction, and they were up until recently. They have a big following, because it is definitely a basketball state. Folding them is a bad idea, definitely. I think there are other teams that should be folded in favor of the Pacers. They were a major player of the 90's, and fierce rivals of the Pistons and Bulls, two other major players of the era.
  12. I don't think you send the Pacers packing, they've had a rough past few years, but like I said, they were a force in the 90's and early 2000's. Even the Celtics have had bad streaks, and don't forget, the Spurs were never a force until they got Duncan really. I think basketball is much more important in Indiana than most realize. It certainly has great potential, whereas the Grizzlies have been sucky-average for most of their time. Golden State is a lost cause, and I think the Clippers could definitely be ousted as well. I think one of the teams could be folded in favor of a new Supersonics team, as well.
  13. Indiana? No way man, they love their basketball in that state. Despite the state of the team right now, they've had some really good Pacer teams. The Pacers were an important team in the 90's, when basketball was at it's best. I'd probably get rid of the Grizzlies too, I don't think they're a big draw... I dunno, I'd have to do a total review, but definitely the Timberwolves (Yeah, they have really s***** attendance since the end of their playoff teams, and even worse since Garnett left) and Raptors. The league needs to be smaller, so the talent doesn't spread itself so thin, and there can be a lot of teams that can play with the best teams. Like I said before, the Bulls always got a fight from several teams. It was never an easy ride for them, despite the fact that they won 72 games in the 95-96 season. They always got a good fight from the Pacers, Knicks, Pistons, or whoever they played in the finals. Now, it's just 4 or 5 teams that are always vastly superior than the rest.
  14. Ellsbury's past two seasons: .280/.336/.394 (87 OPS+) .301/.355/.415 (97 OPS+) Span's past two seasons: .294/.387/.432 (122 OPS+) .311/.392/.415 (114 OPS+) Span's clearly better than Ellsbury at the plate man.
  15. We also have the stingiest freaking snow policies ever. In Minnesota, it could be -40, with two feet of snow, and guess what? You get like... a two-hour delay.
  16. Your graduation is late, ours was like May 27th? Something like that.
  17. Eh, I don't know if we can get rid of him, but starting? I'm not really sure. If he does, it'll be at 1B. I'd rather have him at first than Kotchman. Anything's better than Kotchman. His offense is still valuable if he can stay healthy, it's just that he's going to be a liability on defense.
  18. I bet.
  19. It WILL be fun, just not for the last-place Guardians.
  20. Yes, the everyday life of a Talksox member, every day a new adventure!
  21. I remember when Esteban Loaiza was having a good year with the White Sox, and the Twins stomped him and denied him a 20-win season. Boy how the mighty have fallen.
