  1. My grandma used to call, talk for an hour, and when we got off the phone, she would call right back and just start the conversation up like she did an hour earlier, like we never talked. She's still living, and we still talk, but she's in assisted living. She's 85 years old.
  2. Ortiz had a .900 OPS last season, with 32 homers, so I think he's worth a bit more than Guerrero.
  3. Sidney Rice has been cleared to practice and is off the PUP list.
  4. Eh, I could go either way on this one. The guy was a significantly above average hitter for 12 of his last 13 seasons, and for 4 out of 6 months of the 2010 season, but he did have a couple pitiful months, and an even more pitiful postseason.
  5. This is what I'm saying, though. YH is the one who's bashing the 07-08 Pats. That team when it was at it's best, could absolutely wreck any team we've ever seen. I've never seen a team that was that stacked, and it wasn't just the offense, they were top-notch defensively as well. The 2007-2008 Patriots were extremely overpowering.
  6. Agreed, the 2001 Patriots were very poor statistically, but that doesn't mean that there's no reason to concern or discuss it. Although, the 2003 and 2004 Patriots were elite defensively. This I disagree with, because the Patriots were by far the best team in 2007, but towards the end of the season, they had a significant tail-off statistically. At their peak, they were the top ranked offensive and defensive team in the NFL. At one point, they seemed to put up 450 yards of total offense in every game, Brady was on pace to throw like 60 TDs and pass for over 5,000 yards, and complete 80% of his passes. They tailed off statistically near the end of the season, and every week they looked more vulnerable. The Chargers have also been a huge exception in the opposite way. And I don't think that the Pats will ever make the top 20 even in defense this year, they were very lousy for the past three weeks. While the offense may find a rhythm, I doubt they see nearly as much success as they did with Moss. I agree with this for the most part, though.
  7. You said that the Patriots are a good offensive and defensive unit. They were good offensively like, 4 weeks ago. They're ranked 28th defensively. This is the pot calling the kettle a pot.
  8. lol Even though several people agree with me. Right. Like I said, I think that the Patriots have a chance considering that they have who is probably the greatest strategist of the past 20 years coaching, but they just aren't as talented as the 2001-2004 teams. Winning games at this rate with as poor of stats as they have is unsustainable, something will give, and you'll finally see how vulnerable this team is. Their offense is a shell of it's former self, while the defense gives up big play after big play. Try bringing your scoring argument to any football discussion board that knows what it's talking about, and they laugh at you. Yardage is much more accurate of how a team is playing, while scoring defense revolves around a lot of factors not connected to how well the defense or offense is playing. For example, Norv Turner is a terrible coach, as is Brad Childress. Poorly play calling in the red zone after a strong drive usually leads to just settling for a field goal, or worse. I never once said that the Pats have no chance to finish with a top-notch record, but I'm questioning your objectivity in all of this. It's pretty odd that you have repeatedly said that there's no need for concern over the team's inability to stop their opponents, and over the last few weeks, to score even.
  9. It's almost as though he's developed Rigor Mortis.
  10. Yeah, his velocity has gone down considerably.
  11. It's a Cy Young reference, who would be like a century-and-a-half-year-old man. Ask a700, I think they used to play together, back when he actually was a .700 hitter. Now he's only like a .200 hitter at best.
  12. You're just rephrasing that the ends justify the means. The Chargers have statistically outplayed their opponents. They have the best defense and offense, but they lose because of their lack of efficiency in the end zone. They're a very good team that's had bad play calling and even worse luck. The Patriots are a mediocre squad that's faced three of the most inefficient red zone teams in the NFL. The fact that you can even argue that it doesn't concern you displays a lot of homerism.
  13. I know he has 500+ wins and all, but isn't he getting a little "up there"?
  14. Just stop it already, the Pats are ranked 31st in pass defense. It wasn't a prevent defense, which leads me to believe either: A. You didn't watch the game, and are talking out of your ass or B. You have no clue what you're on about Just face it, the only argument you have is that they're 3-0, which has nothing to do with whether or not they play better without Moss. Finally, what does Moss have to do with the defense again? Does he hurt their feeling too much with his antics that they play better when he's gone?
  15. You use stats like scoring PPG, but you question my football knowledge? That's like using fielding percentage to judge how good a player is defensively, or ERA to judge how good a pitcher is, and telling me that I lack baseball knowledge. You have to look at other stats, otherwise you're just basically saying that the ends justify the means, which is fine, but it means that the Patriots are a very fortunate team, and does nothing to prove your point that the Pats are better without Moss.
  16. But then half of the MLB would be in New York.
  17. I really wanted to see the Rangers win one, but they got their asses handed to them. Matt Cain was just ridiculous throughout the entire postseason.
  18. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/18879/bbao-zygi-wilf-angered-by-moss-departure on topic.
  19. Because this crop of players, as of right now, is ranked 28th in total defense, and while they certainly could suddenly decide to pull it together, right now that's not the case. Like I said, you're seriously getting way ahead of yourself. No one in 2001 expected the Patriots to suddenly build a dynasty. You shouldn't right now, either. They're in the bottom five, not top-ten.
