  1. Since when is a quality start giving up 4 earned runs in 6 innings? That's a 5.4 ERA. And his 1.5 whip tells it all. They need at least 7-8 runs to win with him. Lackey is now a mediocre pitcher, and a disaster considering his salary. By the way, a quality start is 6 complete innings and no more than 3 earned runs. You can look it up.
  2. Unfortunately, hurricanes do not turn on and off like a water faucet.
  3. The timetable right now says it won't be in the DC-Philly area until Sunday am. Later in the day in NE. But weather reports are frequently inaccurate, so you have stay tuned.
  4. Still more talk this morning in the papers about Theo and "talk of joining the Cubs." What talk? Media talk. A non-story story. In addition, you have the ongoing campaign at the Globe trying to make Lackey look like Beckett. Everybody wishes that dream would come true.
  5. Hey, it's either feast or famine for the Sox.
  6. They are just testing the waters. He'll be around .280 by the season end, along with close to career numbers. except for stolen bases. Ellsbury's emergence has definitely made Crawford expendable. That's what I'm reading here.
  7. I leave the batting order to Tito. It's something he does well. As for the pitching, I wish he would leave that to me. LOL
  8. The trouble is Tito doesn't know the difference.
  9. Both are Molotov cocktails. Not to be trusted in playoff games.
  10. They keep throwing Morales in every game for an inning--they'll blow him out, too. They use that bullpen like horse manure. On a positive note, CC looks like he'll be himself by the end of the season. His stats will even out.
  11. That's what I'm saying. It sucks. Overused bullpen.
  12. The way the Red Sox handle their starting pitching--with kid gloves--really sucks, in my view. Not enough pitches. not enough innings. I doubt any of these starters can throw 120 pitches. Then they overuse the bullpen and wonder why they need 12-13 pitchers, and have to turn over relievers every year. Wake up, front office. Sorry Wake. LOL They got Bedard, but they could have had Harden, too. Both better in the stretch than Wake and Lackey.
  13. Harrison is one of those middling left handers the Red Sox should hit.
  14. How about Lackey? He's getting such a big buildup in the Boston media lately for #3 starter. LOL
  15. Theo isn't that stupid to go to Chicago--even if it's one of those two-team "Big Market TV" cities, along with LA and NY. Besides, Henry probably has more money to spend. The Cubs have a bad organization. They didn't even have the good sense to promote their HOF 2nd baseman to manager. Cash would be a better bet to move--he has that guy Levine? crowding him from above.
  16. I don't know when the Elias catcher rankings came out--probably earlier in the season-- but they sure do look silly now, ranking Martin class A, Santana class B and Salty unranked. I would put Salty ahead of the other 2 right now.
  17. Why do they put anybody on waivers? Of course they are interested in dealing him. They are testing the waters. With Ells, Kalish and Reddick--plus the imbalanced lineup--maybe they see him as expendable.
  18. Robinson was in the Dodgers farm system--he wasn't going to Boston even if they got Kuroda. He was the reason they were able to get Bedard. Theo laid some excellent groundwork for that deal trying to get Kuroda. Seattle wanted Robinson. The Red Sox don't need hitters or more HRs. They need more pitching.
  19. In spite of the Globe's obvious campaign for Lackey, with his 5+ ERA and 1.5 Whip, Bedard has shown he is a much better pitcher. Tito didn't replace him against Napoli the other night when the situation dictated it, but that's Tito. Despite the media's antagonism towards Bedard, he has already shown he is the best #3 starter the Red Sox have--until proven otherwise.
  20. The Globe this morning says "Lackey pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed JUST four runs..." That's an ERA of 5.39--for a guy making $15 million. That's not the kind of pitching standard that wins championships. Pretty outrageous of the Globe.
  21. they can and will when Lackey pitches. if they want to win. you know, one pitcher can throw 3 innings if he's sharp. you don't need 3 pitchers to throw 3 innings.
  22. The Yankees will get Wandy, if any team will. They are rich and always desperate to win. LHPitchers do it better in NY.
  23. Tito saved again? Too bad the pitch count machine doesn't know Lackey sucks.
