    If the Sox are indeed done for the day, no roster moves appear necessary. Two player gone, two players back. My question remains. Who is going to provide long relief for the Sox now?

    I'm sorry to see Masterson go. He's a good kid and a tough competitor. Hopefully he will prosper in Cleveland.

    I'm guessing he makes far less than LaRoache and therefore could be moved more easily. Maybe the Sox are not done. Gonzo anyone?

    Even with the logjam at the corner spots, I'd love to see Gonzalez here. It does not look likely, at least until the off season!

    1:27 p.m.: For those hoping the Sox might re-acquire Orlando Cabrera as a stopgap at shortstop, no such luck. The A's have dealt him to the Twins for prospect Tyler Ladenorf. Not than anyone actually expected O Cab back here. Just thought it was worth noting.

He also notes that the Sox and Tigers were among the teams to ask about Seattle ace Felix Hernandez. 12:49 p.m.: Another update from MLB senior writer Jonathan Mayo via Twitter: "Source tells me chances of Tribe dealing [Victor Martinez] is about 50 percent" 12:45 p.m.: MLB.com senior writer Jonathan Mayo tweeted that the he is hearing that the odds of the Padres dealing Adrian Gonzalez were "very low at this point".

    Nigeria and Brockton! I miss George Carlin. I saw him perform in Warwick RI about 13 years ago. I thought I would pass out from laughing so hard. It just occurred to me that I discovered him on The Kraft Summer Music Show in 1966. That was the year I moved to Boston and became a Sox fan. "Hey, the radar is picking up a squadron of Russian ICBMs. I wouldn't sweat the thunder showers".

    I'm tired of the whole issue. Anyone that believes any team was clean is naive. I'm sure the Sox have had plenty of players that have used PED and other banned substances. The history of baseball is littered with players that have used all types of substances. But we keep watching the games. And everyone in the game has continued to make big money. God help anyone that has taken steroids without a Doctor's supervision. Does anyone remember Lyle Alzado (sp) from the NFL? He came clean about using steroids and he suffered an agonizing physical demise on national television. Anyone who watched his frequent visits to The Johnny Carson Show will never forget how he just died before our eyes. It was gruesome. As long as there is so much money at stake, players will continue to try to gain an advantage.
