  1. Yup. I f***ed up. I haven't been watching closely and certainly don't know the teams well at all. I was referring to the big white kid from Texas.
  2. Gone. at 8:10
  3. He just came back with 8:45 left.
  4. Yeah, I can't spell!
  5. Hall and Beltre have hits too.
  6. I was about to post this.
  7. I don't care about who wins to be truthful. But I have nothing against Duke. They have smart players and most of them actually graduate. Which I think is good. Plus my Father taught there.
  8. Sox won't go more than four years on Beckett? http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/mlb/news/story?id=5034231
  9. Next Lowell be a Cancer in the locker room.
  10. Lol. Here's the thread. Jacko was hyping him! http://www.talksox.com/forum/red-sox-minor-leagues/10868-michael-almanzar.html
  11. BTW, I Googled him and found the above on a Talksox thread. I don't know what the source was as it was not noted.
  12. Age: 17 Born: December 2, 1990 Santo Domingo, DR Height: 6-3 Weight: 190 Bats: Right Throws: Right Drafted: Not drafted How Acquired: International free agent (July 2007) High School: Dominican Baseball Academy ETA: 2013 MLB Comparison: Jorge Cantu Quote: Scouting Report: A tall, lanky shortstop - Almanzar is extremely athletic, but also extremely raw. He's very thin now, but his frame looks like it has room to add a lot of muscle and strength. He signed at the age of 16 and hadn't played much organized ball prior to his signing, despite that he's the son of former MLB pitcher Carlos Almanzar. Offensively, Almanzar is mostly potential at this point. His stance and swing are closer to little-league than big league. He fidgets a lot in the box, has an open stance that tightens up a lot after a huge timing step. Regardless, he generates a lot of bat speed and has plus plus power potential. Almanzar is also a work-in-progress defensively. Not a great fielder at 3B yet, despite that he spent much of his (albeit limited) time before signing at SS. His arm is strong but erratic. Basically, he's the ultimate raw toolsy player, and the Red Sox apparently hope to turn him into a star from the ground up.
  13. Oh, but Indiana is not a big basketball market!
  14. I don't see why he should retire. Not when he is guaranteed $13.Mil. The thumb will and knee will likely heal leaving him with a hip that prevents him from moving well. If he can hit (which he hasn't this SP) then he has some value to the Sox. It's too early to say he's completely done. And he knows that. Nobody seemed to give a s*** when Shilling bilked the Sox for $8-9 Mil his last year. How is this so different?
  15. Yes sir. I have the image of Mo laughing and tipping his cap etched in my mind's eye.
  16. "A logical post is logical." I agree.
  17. Help an old dude out here. What did Lowell say and when did he say it? I read all Sox related sports pages every day and somehow I missed what you guys saw.
  18. I wish MLB had 10 day contracts like the NBA. Maybe they do and I don't know about it? In any case, I think it would be really cool to sign both Farnsworth and Tavares to such contracts that would coincide with a Yankees series. Imagine Tavares plunking A-Rod and the resulting bench clearing brawl! Farnsworth could run on to the field and pummel purple lips. Oh the joy I would feel.
  19. It does seem laughable. But what if there is something to it? The author of the article made a case against it. Who knows what his motivation was when writing the article. Maybe he had to write something to earn his pay?
  20. Francona say he will not play Friday. The usual precautionary stuff.
