    The only good thing about the Thornberg deal is that it is cheap and short. I suspect this is a waste of roster space. I too like Poyner.

    The idea of Cano being the Sox 2nd baseman is f***ing dumb. Taking on that contract to get Diaz is still dumb.

    Time for my Roger Moret story! For those of you who have heard it take a break. Just after Moret was called up or whatever, I was standing near where the tarp is kept about an hour or so before a game. Moret and Carlton Fisk were walking in towards the dugout from the bullpen. A group of fans was there and asked for autographs. One fan asked Moret a question. He spoke only Spanish, I guess, because Fisk translated for him. Fisk spoke Spanish about as well as I did. I had half a school year of Spanish in 4th grade. It was pretty funny at the time.

    Same here. That list is chock full of horses that will never win.

    Jeter being reluctant to trade within the division to a 1st place contender is dumb if true. His team is no where near contending as I see things. It's not like trading the guy to Atlanta would stifle a Miami run to the playoffs.

    The Celts are a hot mess. All that talent and they have lost the chemistry from last year. Lousy team defense leads to s***** offense. Poor rebounding does not help.

    The likelihood that Pedroia returns as a productive player are close to nil. Bringing back Kinsler would solidify defense at second but sacrifice offense. He has performed about 40 points lower than his career BA for the past 2 seasons. Holt is not a huge drop-off defensively and he should be a more consistent and productive hitter. I like Nunez a lot. Let's just hope he is healthy in 2019.

    11 Mil? Is Kinsler due that? As Kimi said it was a smart pickup and helped noticeably. No f***ing way I would pay that guy more than 2-3 mil a year at this point. He has declined from a good hitting glovey second baseman with swat to a .230-.240 hitter with a good glove. IIRC he has lost 40 or so points off his career average the past two seasons. I'd rather pay Holt that money (3 mil) and pick-up another vet or bring up Lin mid season.

    Which is unfair in my eyes as I think Calvin Shiraldi had a lot to do with losing in '86.

    Glad Jackie finally got one. Although it seems the award means less nowadays for some reason. Betts was a lock. Kinsler? I don't care about throwing away one game so much as I do believe hat I have seen one or two better 2nd baseman in the AL this year. Damn if I can remember their names!

    It was heart warming to see Macholo strike out to end the game. The cherry on top! The punk K'd 3 times in the most important game of his life. How appropriate.

    I am hoping that Swihart has a Roberts - like stolen base moment in this series. Would make a nice poke in the eye for most people here. Then he is gone.

    This is so, Emp9. I have seen video of him and photos as well while he takes reps at second. I became aware of this about the time the Swihart issue came up as the idea of Swi playing second would require reps there.
