    This post is speculation then. Those reporters are on the scene every day and have "sources". I don't give a rat's ass about Hanley personally. I do care about his non-performance. Terrible signing.

    MLB should have a rule in the Collective Bargaining Agreement that states that no player may attempt to grow a beard unless they have full growth on their face. And while I'm at it, spiting should be banned as well. That is all.

    I believe I heard these things about Hanley from several sources. I have no idea where you live but here in the Boston market almost every beat reporter and media talking head has voiced these things. Gordone Edes, Sean McAdam, and Nick Cafardo are among the many people that have conveyed these things, accurate or not. I have not said, nor have I heard anything about Hanley being a cancer in the clubhouse in BOSTON. But he does have a bad reputation for be somewhat of a selfish and disingenuous douche nozzle. I agree that the Sox wanted him gone. But he was the one who approached the Sox about retreating to Ft. Lauderdale. The move to 1st was a joke that very few people have believed would actually happen.

    Meh. I was one who did not think that the Yankees would make it because of their suspect rotation of unhealthy arms. The Yankees got huge production from Purple lips which I did not foresee. Unfortunately as things stand now the only really good bat remaining in the lineup is Beltran and he can't run. This is a mediocre team that should not win any championship. But Like a700 said, if they get past the wild card, anything can happen. If by some chance they get to the WS and have to face the Cards I will have to root for the Yankees because I hate Cards fans more than I hate Yankee fans. So the Yankees need to be booted soon.

    Could not find a thread on the subject so I'm posting it here. Justin Masterson had right shoulder surgery ( arthroscopic ) yesterday. For months a700 was asking what is wrong with the guy because of reduced velocity. I wonder how much the Sox knew about his health prior to awarding him $9.5 mil to be a bust. Terrible signing at that price.

    Maybe so. However, will that make UZR a bonifed valid stat? I still wonder about other aspects of evaluating a fielder with UZR. Are things like wind speed / direction, temperature, humidity, field condition, and trajectory accounted for? In science, they would be.

    Thank you. I was thinking that my proximity to Boston was allowing me to hear and read info that other members do not get because they live in other areas. I'm still not sure. But some members do not get the same info or just ignore it as being noise. As for speculation about Hanley. The fact that there appears to be speculation is a problem by itself. The mystery surrounding his alleged injury , playing 1st base, hitting bombs in BP pain free, and then asking to be able to go home to Florida does not lend itself to good "optics". Hanley looks bad any way you slice it. And based on his "past history" ( lol, is there any other kind of history? ) believing the worst about the f***ing stiff is not exactly a stretch. He had a really good opportunity coming back to Boston and he f***ing blew it. There is no one else to blame for his failure. None of us should be surprised he did not work out here.

    No way in hell that ER starts 2016 in Pawtucket. That is nuts. Even Owens ( in a small sample ) has demonstrated that he is MLB worthy and at least as good as some of the other guys on the staff.
