  1. I must say That I was impressed by Pete Rose on Fox last night. At one point he condemned managers for using a pitcher for only "one inning or 1/3 of an inning". The game has changed Pete. But I think I am with you!

I too remember this great series. The Big Red Machine!!!!! My memories are quite clear of one game, unfortunately. I was working for a company that provided contract Facilities Management for Hospitals. I had been sent to HG Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine for about two weeks. The town had only one motel and it was a lively one. As I lay in my bed watching the game Fisk hit his hand waving homer, a young couple was having a raging knock out fight in the room across the hall that climaxed with gunfire. I was scared shitless. I called the front office and they called the Police. The police came and took the two cretins away. Oh yes. It was a memorable series.
  3. Really? I never heard this. But you would know!
  4. Ditto. f*** ANY New York team and their obnoxious fans.
  5. What limited budget do you speak of? I still don't understand why you think the Sox would be strapped by a $30. contract that had become dead money. That would still leave about $140.-$150. mil to fill out a roster.
  6. I agree. There are only a handful of these GM job available each year. I can understand that he may want some time off and that he may want to be selective. BUT, he has to be careful to not disqualify himself from future consideration for these jobs. Strike while the coal is hot . Or whatever.
  7. Hahahahahahahaha!11!!!
  8. No. At least they will have made a move that had every chance of being a good one as Price has always been good to great without the eating disorder or petulant behavior of a 13 year old girl.
  9. I'll answer. If he is a bust because of injury that occurs while playing for the Sox I will be disappointed. If it's an injury from a pre-existing condition ( like Lackey ), I will be massively pissed at the Sox. If he sucks pond water like the two fat pigs then I will be very surprised and f***ing pissed at him. I do not see that happening as long as his health is COMPLETELY vetted.
  10. Yup. I get that feeling too.
  11. One of the big attractions in Prague is The Charles Bridge. Anyway I saw a busking violinist with a small amp who had a Pats gym bag and baseball cap. f***ing strange!
  12. Well f*** hindsight then. Learn to be prescient.
  13. Yankees - GONE Dodgers - GONE Cards - GONE Even though my team is not in the tournament not all was bad this week!!!!!!
  14. But you could manage to handle her tits, I assume.
  15. I've seen Yankee hats in Prague and Moscow. Ferrari hats were the most popular everywhere I went in Europe. I saw several Patriots hats in Prague. Weird. Bon apitite mon ami!
  16. Oh. I saw Denny McClain pitch. Imagine winning 30 games in one season?
  17. Like Kaufax, I never saw Drysdale pitch. I do know that he pitched a WS perfect game. I think! You saw Gibson and Blue. The young guys here only remember things since Pedro and maybe Clemens. Gibson and Blue were incredible. Just check out their numbers.
  18. It may be lol but it is true!!!
  19. Price would jump at playing here if his terms were met. The Ortiz thing is blown way out of proportion by the media. Price would change his tune very quickly. And Ortiz would know enough to go along and get along.
  20. I get the disproportionality of a Price type contract and how it could limit roster building. However, competent managers know how to juggle things like minimum contracts for rookies and minor league type players. $175 mil minus $30 mil still leaves three times what the small market teams spend each year. I think that if the proper, sound moves are made, Ted is correct. A team like the Sox should be in the hunt most years. 3 last place finishes in 4 years is quite a statement on how badly this team has been managed ( not Farrell ).
  21. I'm with you on this. I don't go to games very often and like yourself, I want to see a competitive team when I do go. Next time you get stuck with tickets give me a holler. I'd love to go with you. Even at face value!!!
  22. I agree. I think we could expect Price to be very good for about 3 years then start to fade. The owners have no one other than themselves to blame for the proliferation of bloated contracts. If they refused to pay such numbers it would eventually stop.
  23. Good stuff. Never saw Kaufax but I did see plenty of Gibson and Blue. The two most fearsome pitchers I ever saw.
  24. Welcome.
