  1. Do you have a link to this? I would love to see it.
  2. We need Lester to really step it up on Thursday against Holland. I actually think that the pitching matchups in this series are going to be fun to watch. Lackey has been doing pretty good, Lester needs to rebound, and Dempster needs keep building on his last outing tonight.
  3. If it is Doubront vs. Wilson, at least Doubront has been improving lately. Doubront has only given up 3 ER's over his last two starts and Wilson has given up 9 ER's in his last two starts. It is only two starts, but Doubront might be gaining some confidence.
  4. I agree with this. I think he will almost have to get in if he amasses 3,000 hits. Other than that, there are several factors that come into play here.
  5. That is a tough call. Roberto Alomar is a HOF and has somewhat similar statistics to those numbers: 1508 R, 2724 H, 210 HR's, 1134 RBI's, 474 SB's, .300/.371/.443/.814, 116 OPS+ 12 all-star games and five top 10 MVP finishes. In hits that would rank Pedroia in the middle of the road in terms of HOF second baseman. 10 of the 19 would have more hits than him. 12 would have more runs. 8 would have more HR's. 12 would have more RBI's. 8 would have better averages. 9 would have more SB's. 12 would have a higher OBP. 8 would have a higher slugging percentage. I know times are different in terms of getting into the HOF. Craig Biggio received 68.2% of the vote. 75% is required to get in. I think he will probably get in someday. He never won a ROY or MVP like Pedroia, but he by far has better offensive numbers than those final numbers you proposed for Pedroia. I think it will be hard for Pedroia not to get in if he reaches 3,000 hits and consistently puts up decent numbers. I think it is a tough call if he only reaches the totals that you came up with.
  6. What is going on with Ells? I heard they were targeting tonight. Of course things always change. Victorino had some sort of setback. Middlebrooks is at least rehabbing today.
  7. I was actually just thinking about this in the case of Dustin Pedroia. In my opinion, I think he can be on track to get to 3,000 hits if he can play through the age of 40. The only downfall is the way he plays the game. He is a scrappy player and has been playing hurt throughout this season. Not to mention he has been prone to injuries in the past. If he can stay healthy and can play through the age of 40 at the level he has been able to play at, then I think there is a realistic shot he can make it. Obviously, there might be a drop off in numbers after he ages after his prime. The Rookie of the Year in 2007 and the MVP in 2008 definitely helps. The more hardware he can add to that collection the better. I know he will play until he physically cannot play anymore. I hope he ends his career in Boston, and maybe someday he will have his number retired and will make it into the HOF. There is still a long way to go and it is still fairly early on in his career.
  8. All three of those outs were not easy outs. We are hitting the ball today. Hopefully Revere's injury is not too serious. That looked painful.
  9. I can't stand CB takes it in the Bucknor. BS call.
  10. He can't last too much longer. No command at all. Although, we will take all the batting practice the Phillies are willing to give us.
  11. Jesus. This is like batting practice. It seems like even when we make outs that we are hitting line drives.
  12. Great play! I stand corrected.
  13. Here comes the inning where Aceves blows up.
  14. Every MLB team is wearing the USMC camo today.
  15. The more times we say it, the better. That just means he keeps doing something right.
  16. Ellbury is really starting to come around.
  17. It is full count to Iglesias, but the first five pitches were all out of the strike zone. We will take the hit!
  18. Salty should have crushed that hanging curveball.
  19. Some jackass was telling me the other day that Cano is far superior to Pedroia all around. Pedroia is by far the better defender, also hits for a better average. Sure he doesn't have Cano's power, but it is the way he plays the game that makes him the better player. In my opinion, it is close, but Pedroia is the overall better player. Let me say that this doucehbag was a Yankees fan.
  20. Perfect timing for the DP (no pun intended)!
  21. Here we go with Aceves. Are you kidding me?
  22. Big Papi pulled a Middlebrooks during his at bat, but Ells, Pedroia, and Nap all coming through. Drew with a walk as well!
  23. I have a feeling that this crappy Phillies lineup is going to make Aceves look like a decent pitcher. I am really hoping Dempster can gain some confidence tomorrow night.
  24. It is possible. It is hard to tell. I know originally they said they might catch him on rare occasions, and this falls into that category. That is a smart idea. Bradley has been hitting in Pawtucket, so he definitely deserves a chance here. It is strange. They are doing that all throughout baseball. They are saying that teams are playing their "natural rival," and calling it a Home-and-Home series. Two home games for each team and two away games for each team.
