  1. This is the last f***ing thing we need.
  2. Exactly. We are bound to start scoring runs, but we need to start it now!
  3. I like the effort by Middlebrooks, but if you don't think you can get a clean throw, then eat it. I don't know how Salty completely missed that ball. At least we got out of it without giving up a run.
  4. The good news is that Bailey may not be gone for too much longer. He is supposed to start throwing off the mound within the next couple days. The bad news is that he always seems to find a way to get on the DL. We really need to count on Bailey to stay healthy. I think Tazawa does not have enough experience in the pressure filled closing role, so we do not really know what to expect from him. Yesterday, he wasn't even in for a closing situation and gave up the game winning home run. I do agree with you about not trusting him to fill the role for the long-term. I hope I am wrong and that he can get back from this DL stint and have a solid year. Also, Morales is not too far away from coming back as well.
  5. That is what I am wondering. Could they be looking to make a trade?
  6. Webster is the only healthy option right now. RDLR still has a lot to prove. Wright is not remotely close. On April 23rd there was an article saying Morales had pectoral soreness. His rehab is going to be delayed a few more days. Realistically, he is probably not an option until mid-to-late May at the earliest. I am sure we will hear more about him within a week or two so we know for sure. They are going to stretch him out as a starter. So when he is healthy, at least we have him and Webster.
  7. Forget the predictions, let's just get the W and we can all be happy. Whether we win 1-0 or 18-15, I don't care, just as long as we win.
  8. If you go on the MLB.TV page where you view the games. It does have the Cardinals listed as a National blackout. I am not sure if it is just one game that is blackedout where they are referring to the Weekend U.S. National Live Blackout. It does say that "each Sunday with a scheduled start time after 5:00 PM ET, will be blacked out," however, I am not sure if it is referring to only that Cardinals and Phillies game. It does not say that the Red Sox game is nationally blacked out like the Cardinals game. I am hoping it is not.
  9. Regular Season Weekend U.S. National Live Blackout: Due to Major League Baseball exclusivities, live games occurring each Saturday with a scheduled start time after 1:10 PM ET or before 7:05 PM ET and each Sunday with a scheduled start time after 5:00 PM ET, will be blacked out in the United States (including the territories of Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Live Audio of such games is available as part of any MLB.com At Bat™ subscription. Each game may be available approximately 90 minutes after the conclusion of the game as an archived game (archived games are blackout free). That is what is says on mlb.com, however I just called and the lady I talked to said the game didn't say it was blacked out. Don't take my word on that. The lady did not seem like she knew a whole lot about it. She said that one game is a national blackout no matter what. That was the Cardinals game, not the Red Sox. I will still try to find out more and let you know. Definitely check either way to see if it is blacked out or not.
  10. Game is cancelled for tonight.
  11. Game is still in question for tonight, which is not surprising. The important thing is catching this second guy. I obviously do not live in Boston, but I am sure that it is crazy there. Thoughts are with all of you guys that live in the area. Stay safe.
  12. You're probably right about that. Probably just wishful thinking on my part. Like you said, we will just have to see.
  13. Not right now we aren't. His BA is actually only .108. Then the rest is OBP/SLG/OPS, respectively. Those numbers are horrendous, but he has only played in 10 games this year. He has not ever really hit for a high BA at the MLB level, but those 32 HR's last year and 85 RBI's are something that I definitely wish we could have had in Boston last year.
  14. In accounting, we call something like Bard a sunk cost(of course in different terms), pretty much an expense that has already been incurred that cannot be recovered. Bard is a pitcher that has already had huge setbacks, and it seems as though he might not ever be able to pitch the way he once did. I guess we can call him a sunk pitcher. He is only pitching in AA. During his six innings, he has a 6.00 ERA, given up 7 hits, and 3 walks. Not to mention opponents are hitting .292 off of him. We are talking about AA, that is the sad thing. To expect Bard to somehow get his s*** together this season is asking for a lot. Realistically, the most that we can hope for is that he can slowly make progress and compete for a potential spot during Spring Training next year.
  15. As long as the Sox are playing solid, I could really care less how Youkilis is doing in the nursing home that they call Yankee Stadium, or how Crybaby Crawford and co. are doing out in L.A. The only players I really miss are Moss, Reddick, Lowrie, and Gonzalez. I do not miss Youk, Beckett, Punto, or Crawford. The Sox are 1st place in the AL East (I know we are only 12 games in), but that is something that a lot of people did not expect.
  16. It sucks to see Hanrahan go to the DL, but he has not had one solid outing this year. Let's hope it was the injury and he can get healthy and fix the mechanical issues to be an effective closer once he returns. My guess is that Wright will be used as a long-inning reliever. Since Aceves is the 5th starter, that seems like the logical place for him. Unless they are thinking about giving Wright a start, although I am not really sure if that will happen. Has anyone else heard anything?
  17. That is an extremely valid point. Bad calls go both ways, but there are times where it is extremely frustrating given the situation, especially late in a game. I agree with you. We had such a great start to the season and it sucks to see us lose the last two, especially since I feel like the umpire really blew some calls. I do understand that they make mistakes, but when it is the difference between being potentially 7-2 or 5-4, it really pisses me off. Exactly. It is what it is. Luckily it is just the start of the season, we have a long way to go. I think we have a lot to look forward to this year. Regardless of the outcome, at least we are fielding a team that is fun to watch.
  18. I am ready for this series. I was pretty pissed about called balls and strikes the past couple of nights. It is not an excuse, but Hanrahan had two pitches that could have easily have been called strikes on Wednesday night that would have ended the game. I thought Salty had ball four in his 9th inning at bat yesterday, who knows how that inning would have played out if he would have gotten on base. It sucks that some games come down to the control of the umpires decision making. Although, the rule of thumb should be that in a close game in the 9th inning, anything close should go in favor of the pitcher. Batters at the MLB level know that you have to swing when it is close, it is common sense. Now that I am done with my rant, whether Farrell should have pulled Hanrahan is another topic. I am just looking forward to this series, hopefully we can walk away from this series with winning the first three out of four so far this season. Big Papi is not too far away. A decision on Bradley will be coming soon. IMO, it is time to head to AAA to get some more experience. He has come down to earth only hitting .120. Iglesias had a homer last night for the PawSox. I am starting to wonder if they are going to start looking to move Drew. Iglesias has been hot this season. I did not agree with sending him down to AAA at all. He has had a hot bat, and his defense is as good as it comes. The defense in itself is almost good enough for him to be in the bigs, but when he is hitting, it is a huge bonus. Hopefully we can figure something out for him to be on the MLB roster. Whether he can keep his hitting up is another concern.
  19. That is what I was unsure about. I know it is nationally televised, but are nationally televised games always on NESN as well? They are offering the game on both NESN and ESPN. Either way, I can still catch it at work on ESPN. I just got rid of ESPN at home, so at least I can catch most of them on MLB.TV.
  20. We all knew that it was down to Nava, Carp, Bradley, and Sweeney for three final spots. I would take Bradley over Sweeney anytime. I am still waiting for that roster spot to clear up. With Bradley, Ellsbury, and Victorino in the OF, that is one hell of a defense. Gomes gets his at bats in the DH slot until Big Papi comes back, then we make a decision on what to do with JBJ.
  21. The past is the past. I would love nothing more than for Jon Lester to throw a gem tomorrow on opening day. I am tired of all these slow starts to the season. A couple years ago we started out slow, and then we eventually turned things around. Last year we started out slow, and I kept telling myself we would turn things around, and we all know that didn't happen. Let's start out strong this season and get ahead early.
  22. Does anyone else have MLB.tv? I live in Florida, and MLB.tv is the best solution to watching NESN for the majority of the games for me. I do know that the game is going to be on both NESN and ESPN tomorrow. My question is, do you know if I can still pull up NESN on MLB.tv, or am I going to get stuck watching it on ESPN? I am going to be at work, so it is not a big deal, but I want to pull it up on my phone and watch it. I don't know much about the blackouts.
  23. Big game today for my college as we take on UF. A lot of UF fans are talking s***. I would love nothing more than to make it to the Elite 8 by beating our "in-state big brother." I know that some of you do not probably care about the game, but cheer on FGCU as they try to keep making history.
  24. Lester and Buchholz have had solid springs. Aceves, Dempster, Doubront, and Lackey have all shown us positive things this spring. I was impressed by Aceves today and Lackey yesterday. The starting pitching is looking good, not to mention Aceves is showing us something good as the 6th starter/swing man guy.
