  1. The Sox take Markus Betts with their 5th round pick. I'm kind of disappointed that the Sox didn't take a high profile guy with the 2nd-5th pick. I think at this point I'm done watching the draft. I haven't really been excited since we took Owens at 36.
  2. Sox get Noe Ramirez in the 4th round. I think he was ranked at #93 going into the draft and taken at 142. He's a college RHP from Cal State Fullerton, even learned a changeup from teammate Ricky Romero.
  3. Welcome mate.
  4. The sox take another HS catcher with Jordan Weems. On another note, a few Sox draft picks that didn't sign have been drafted already. Alex Meyer was a first round pick to the Nationals, Zeke DeVoss was taken today by the Cubs at 98, and Ricky Oropesa was taken at 116.
  5. The Blue Jays make another epic pick with John Stilson, however it's really risky due to a big injury. I didn't think that he was going to sign, but if the Blue Jays sign him then that's a huge draft victory.
  6. WOW, the Washington Nationals take Matthew Purke in the 3rd round. That'd be epic if he signs, although I don't think he will.
  7. Sox take Williams Jerez (OF) He's taken right out of the Yankees backyard.
  8. The Blue Jays take another predatory pick taking Daniel Norris (a pitcher I had wanted at #40 along with Meo who was taken earlier). It's a tough sign, but it looked like he (along with Tyler Beede) had Boston written all over him. I'm not sure if Toronto will be able to sign all of the guys, but they are certainly sticking it to Boston right now.
  9. Guardians just took Dillon Howard who had some connections to being taken by the Yankees. In my opinion, the Yankees should have taken Howard with their first pick, and now they won't have a shot at him with their 2nd pick.
  10. JTFC Arizona is drafting their entire rotation a few years from now. Bauer, Bradley, Chafin, Meo etc...
  11. The Pirates take Josh Bell?!?!?!?!?
  12. Draft should be continuing soon. I'm not sure how many more rounds are today, but we should be able to get some good picks. LET'S GO!!!
  13. You're the first person I've talked to that doesn't think the pick was horrible. Everyone I've talked to thus far is either scratching their head and laughing (Sox fans) or wanting to jump off of a bridge (Yankees fans)
  14. I think he was ranked in the 100's overall yet he was drafted at 51. It was a bit of a head scratcher.
  15. The more I think about the Bradley pick, the more I like it. First of all, it looks like Bell is going to slide a long way, and barring a huge payout (something only a few teams can provide) I don't see him signing. Second, even with the injury Bradley was ranked higher than where he was picked. Before the injury Bradley was considered a top/mid first rounder, and we picked up him in the middle of the sandwich round. In addition, I think that Bradley will be a reasonably cheap sign, which may mean that he otherwise wouldn't have made it out of the sandwich round. It also means that we can go for more homeruns today and tomorrow, and with so many top 50 draft picks still remaining, I think we have a good shot of nailing one of them with the 81st pick. Bradley looks like a value pick and a safe pick (safe relative to signing and relative to making the majors) and considering who our first 3 picks are, I'm content with it. I'd rather have had Bell or one of those pitchers that are still available, but if we get someone decent at 81 then that wouldn't matter. Oh well, only about 2.5 hours until the draft continues. lol
  16. Pick Number Pick BA Rank Keith Law Rank Matt Barnes 19th 13th 10th Blake Swihart 26th 17th 19th Henry Owens 36th 33rd 34th Jackie Bradley 40th 34th 28th While no Josh Bell, it seems good enough for me. It looks like Josh Bell is going to slide a long way.
  17. In addition, while 60 picks have been taken, by Keith Law's rankings, the #15, #18, #24, #27, #31, #35, #37, #38, #39, #43, #44, #49, #50, and #52 predraft ranked players are still available.
  18. The Yankees picked 51st, and picked Dante Bichette Jr.
  19. I would have taken Bell, and if not him, I would have taken another one of those HS pitchers I mentioned earlier, like Norris/Meo/Howard, over Bradley Jr. That said, it's not that bad of a pick, and given our first 3 picks, I'm ok with it. Now I just have to hope for limited damage before we pick again at 81 or something.
  20. It's not Gray or Guerreri, but for one of the first times in all of Red Sox drafts, I'm happy with the first 3 picks. I have a good feeling about the 4th one too.
  21. Sox get Henry Owens at 36, I love the pick. Now we just need Bell at 40 and we're all set for the night. I'd still love to see one of those other HS pitchers, especially one of the righty's, but I'd be happy with Bell at 40 if he's there.
  22. Cmon Norris/Howard/Meo/Owens. Give me one of them or Bell.
