  1. That sounds like commentary I'd hear in "Major League Baseball with Ken Griffey Jr."
  2. Towards the beginning of the year all of them minus Beckett (and Federowicz) were white hot. Adrian Gonzalez is .300/.351/.468/.818 with 15 HR and 66 RBI (106 games) Hanley Ramirez is .365/.413/.651/1.063 with 11 HR and 37 RBI in 53 games. (7 for 7 in SB) Carl Crawford is .284/.333/.417/.750 in 71 games. Nick Punto is .244/.312/.300/.612 in 81 games. He did have a .361/.451/.475/.926 in the second week of May though. (My point being he started really hot) and because I'm loving it Josh Beckett is 0-5 with a 5.19 ERA in 43 1/3 innings before being injured for the year. Federowicz has sucked and now Fife is on the DL although he has a 2.76 ERA in 45 2/3 innings. (1.27 WHIP and .275 BAA)
  3. That trade was done with Rule 5 Cannon Fodder (Fife, Federowicz, and Chiang) A lot of the Ex-Sox were doing well (Crawford, Punto, Gonzalez, Hanley if he counts) but at least Beckett was doing poorly.
  4. Yeah...so about me being wrong...can't help you on this one Napoli. You're hard to like sometimes.
  5. On the bright side if Ortiz at least doesn't get into a double play I doubt they'd have Thatcher pitch to Napoli so we can really go through their bullpen. And if we score more runs we don't need to use our best relievers. (Doubront has been helping with that thus far)
  6. Sox have another chance with the bases loaded 1 out. This time they can't intentionally walk Ortiz.
  7. I wish Napoli would spend some time on the DL so we won't have to keep paying him for reaching plate appearances. He gets 500K and $1M each time he reaches a plate appearance/roster milestone.
  8. I agree on these. I'm just worried about a lengthy contract on McCann. But if we got McCann we probably wouldn't need Salty.
  9. Better to have 1 200 page thread than 200 1 page threads imo.
  10. To this point, here are some of the catching free agents career OPS against lefties. (Remember Salty's is .590) Brayan Pena .589 Humberto Quintero .626 Kurt Suzuki .639 AJ Pierzynski .674 Yorvit Torrealba .725 John Buck .728 Jesus Flores .730 Brian McCann .746 Ramon Hernandez .769 Dioner Navarro .781 Chris Snyder .790 Carlos Ruiz .804 Ronny Paulino .844 Kelly Shoppach .856 Geovany Soto .861
  11. McCann aside, I wouldn't mind Salty back. He's been a warrior, I believe he's been a bit improved defensively, he's still young, and I feel like for a position dominated by right handers, you won't find many that can top his career .787 OPS against righties. I feel like it's a lot easier to find a platoon catcher that can hit LHP (Salty is a career .590 OPS vs. lefties) than it is to find a right handed catcher that's really good against righties. (Obvious Mauer/McCann exceptions aside)
  12. In a pipe dream I'd love to see Bogaerts at SS, Cecchini at 3B, Middlebrooks at 1B and Ortiz at DH. Obviously I don't think that's going to work out like that. The 1B free agent market isn't special. It has Napoli/Morneau/Reynolds/Pena/Youkilis/Overbay/Helton/Konerko/Kotchman/Loney/Morales/Morse. (Not sure if Corey Hart counts) Not sure what option is the best there. Morales, Reynolds, Lind (if his option is declined) and Loney would be the youngest options at 30. My gut choice would be Morales considering Lind is a platoon only option, Loney doesn't hit for power, and Reynolds would only compound the strikeout problem that we rip on Napoli (and Salty/Middlebrooks) for. I like Morales career splits better than the other options, but he's better vs. RHP. It depends on if we need a bat vs. lefties, or vs. righties. Overall at 1B I care more about having the best overall bat and I believe of the options listed that's Kendrys Morales. I'm not the Bible on this stuff so I'm sure plenty of people disagree.
  13. At least Napoli isn't signed beyond this year.
  14. We can still coerce them with the "Wrong Thread"
  15. At this point the fewer starts for Dempster/Lester the better.
  16. I personally think we should have an "I was wrong" thread. Mods can move old threads into there, but it can mostly be a confessions/exposing thread. If nothing else it'll combine a lot of the smaller threads and simplify the board appearance a little.
  17. I disagree. The old threads provide the cold hard evidence in case one person denies ever posting what they are being ripped on for posting. It's a lot harder to weasel your way out of your words when you're wrong if the very thread is dug up. I definitely condone in it.
  18. If it wasn't for Ross 4/5 game with 2 doubles and a HR against us, Ross and Gomes OPS wouldn't be close.
  19. For the record, (honestly not trying to be a smart ass here) I think that it's valuable to bring up these threads after time because it may deter people from making over-reactionary and borderline stupid threads in the first place. Granted I don't make threads, but I'd be a lot less likely to if it has a chance of getting bumped up later and put in my face if I'm wrong. Everyone is wrong around here every once in a while, but a lot of people don't see it or won't admit it. There needs to be reprehensibility for people that make stupid threads. Plus it encourages discussion on the value/merit of each player and in this case, the positive value for Ben Cherington.
  20. You two should be on a reality TV show. I'd watch the s*** out of that if you played a couple.
  21. You can also get her backdoor with your Uncle Charlie if you know what I am saying.
  22. So you're going to pound her in the zone with your fastballs?
  23. Great game y'all. Even better watching Ross put up another O'fer. Despite his 4/5 performance against us yesterday, he was a career 1/16 against us going into that game.
  24. Now score some more so we can spare Koji.
  25. Don't make me go down to VA to smack you. Although that be your weird way to get me to leave my apartment. haha
