  1. I agree, but at the price these relievers want (and are getting) we might only be able to get one. At that point I'd take Fuentes and try to fill out the roster on the scrap heap.
  2. At this point, I'd just give Fuentes whatever he's asking for (except closing rights) and see if we could get Delcarmen back cheap. That should give us a pretty good bullpen (not great), but the way these deals are going it looks like we'd only be able to get one good reliever with our money, and if there's a reliever on the market that I'd overpay for (other than Scott Downs) it would be Brian Fuentes.
  3. As long as we get at least 2 good relievers, then I'll be happy. I won't start getting pissed again until Fuentes and Crain have signed elsewhere.
  4. Exactly, especially if it involves getting a player that the Sox need/could use. That'd help us and screw the Yankees at the same time. I remember talking about this yesterday and Meh thought I was crazy for helping create a monster in Philly, and it looks like the Boston FO agrees with me and would go out of their way to f*** the Yankees. The problem is, I don't think that the Phillies have any player that we'd need/could use.** **For the record, I mean a player that Philly would want to get rid of to cut payroll. Obviously we could use Lee/Halladay/Oswalt/Hamels but Philly wouldn't want to trade them.
  5. On the bright side, this can end the conversation about us getting Martin. Thank god that's over.
  6. I agree that Blanton is gone, but I don't think that there is a chance in hell that he goes to Boston.
  7. Great, now that Lee signed, I'm bored because there haven't been any signings since.
  8. Rays resign JP Howell, so there's another lefty off of the market.
  9. Looks like Kevin Gregg is signing with the Orioles, 2/12 million.
  10. Sounds fair to me.
  11. That deal fell through. Boston isn't getting Joe Blanton. If they want to help the Phillies clear some payroll they can always get Jimmy Rollins.
  12. Do you think we should all open up Youporn and celebrate?
  13. You have a dirty mind Erin.
  14. This almost sounds like LeBron, Wade, and Bosh going to play with one another, except that Halladay, Lee, and Oswalt are all good.
  15. Btw are there any Yankee fans on here?
  16. Now let's have Pettite retire and CC Sabathia opt out of his contract. YAY!!!
  17. The Phillies are going to try and give away some players. Granted, the Sox don't need any of them, but I'm sure that some teams can find some great deals.
  18. If only they had someone we could use.
  19. And if Lee not signing with the Yankees causes Pettite to not sign, and if Sabathia opts out of his contract, I think that everyone in Boston should give Amaro Jr. a hummer too.
  20. If only they had a player that we could use. We could save them some salary and help ourselves get a good player. I think I said this before everyone started talking about Lee to the Phillies.
