In all fairness, to defend my Jeter pick, if you look at the SS crop available, it's pretty much Jeter and a bunch of people that would hardly be worthy of a 25th round pick. I hadn't had a single player on my team over 10 million, and I had about 5.75 million remaining per player. With Matusz's cheap contract mixed with Jeter's contract, that results in about 4.85 million remaining per player, which is still higher than the 4.4 million per player average that we had to start with. My point is, I had the money and I doubted that I was going to be able to make a trade for a big bat and incur salary, so the money was going to get spent somewhere.
In addition, the only 2 people without SS's were Divinity and Y228, so I doubt that he would have made it back to me, and god forbid that one of them did take Jeter or else I'd be totally f***** at SS. If Jeter rebounds from last year and has a halfway decent season, it'd be worth it in the end. It's not like I get to keep the unspent money anyway, and he's still a very good offensive SS considering how thin the position is to begin with.
