Bingo..Cute kids will get you pictures with the players. BTW, Mike Lowell would be a good one to hit up... my girls loved him..he will chat as well. Youks is not very personable.. Pedroia, very good with kids and adults alike.. Couldn't get close enough to Papi. ST is funny.. You never know who will be doing laps or working in small groups on alternate fields.. Let them get their work in and hit them up as they are leaving. I am sure you will get someone to take some pics with the kids.

Love the lettering... Absolutely hate the socks on the side. What is it with those damn Sox? First the hideous hats and now they have infiltrated the Jersey as well? Do they think we forgot we are the Red Sox? Are they pandering to "on the fence" pinkhats who want the cutesy little sox on the side for their kids? I always loved the teams that DIDN't change their uni's... The Sox had basically kept the integrity of their "oldies" with a few minor exceptions.. The road uni's were actually better than in the day of Jim Ed and Dewey..with the red lettering and such.. But the home uni's should never have been changed. They already wear the alternate Reds enough.. why f*** with the traditional home uni's?? These road uni's would have been sweet had they nixed the socks. Hell, maybe they will grow on me..I used to hate the Red home alternates as well...I can now take them in very small doses.

Tonto seems to know the statistical side, as do I...props to him... Has he ever played, scouted, or instructed professionally? I don't know..but I highly doubt it. He seems to stand firmly on the side which views baseball as purely a numerical stat-game.. If you played the game, you are privy to tendencies and game strategy that cannot be quantified. I value statistical analysis as it helps me in evaluating a player... I use it as a tool... If stats were the only determining factor, I would have never been paid to go and watch kids play.

$10 mill? I have to agree with 26:6. Tek should be thanking his lucky stars he is being offerred $10 mill-plus for 2 years. He has virtually no leverage with any other team other than Boston. Most of his leverage stems from his familiarity with the staff and the fact that the Sox really don't have another viable, experienced STARTING catcher on their roster. Theo made Tek a very good offer..there is no doubt he will take it and run. Truth be told..all Tek really deserved after his pathetic offensive display last year was a $2-3 mill deal with incentives to push it to 5 or 6. For him to get $5 mill and another year was a gift from Theo based on loyalty and need.

Theo's public comments 2 weeks ago were that the plan was to re-sign Tek AND trade for a young catcher. Every indication was that he meant doing both, and sooner rather than later. Seems like the inevitable Tek signing is a pre-cursor to a Bard for Montero/ or Bowden or Buchholz for Salty or Tegarden. Should be interesting. Looking at Tegarden's minor league numbers, he sure strikes out alot.(app. 40%) This high K rate transferred over to his major league AB's in 2008..albeit a very small sample size. I would be happy with either Salty or Teagarden. Salty's power potential, age, and switch-hitting ability seem to give him the edge in upside. If the deal is Salty for Bowden OR Buchholz for Teagarden I would go with Salty.

I agree 87 is not THAT impressive(for a pitcher)...and the funny thing is..pitching, I couldn't throw consistent strikes, I had horrible mechanics.. But snapping a throw from my ear...with no windup..from 120 feet..it just clicked. No, I am done.. You come off to me as very abrasive in some of your comments, so I reply in the same manner. Maybe I am reading you wrong, if so..I am sorry for that. I don't want to argue anymore till the season starts:) It takes up too much time. BTW, had it not been for a compound fracture of my ankle(happened in 2nd year at Asheville, collision at home)..I may have made it pretty high..not sure how high as I was a light-hitting defensive catcher..good contact hitter, just not much power. My glove-to-glove/pop-to-pop times were between 1.72 and 1.81. This was obviously my strength as I threw 87 MPH from my crouch with a pretty quick release.

I still bird-dog(looking at local high school and college kids to draft in Tr-State area Ill/Ind/Wis) for them when I can. You are so far out of your league kid. And no s*** Tek doesn't want to take backup money...but all things being equal..he may just want to be closer to his kids and may have soured on Sox had they only offered $2mill per year.
